LA Christmas Lights {Founder’s Interview + Discount Code}

Posted on December 4, 2025 | Filed Under: Reviews | Tags: holiday light installers, Joshua Lee, LA Christmas Lights, light fixture installation | 3 Comments

Hanging holiday lights can be tricky, depending on your home set-up and the type of light installations you have in mind. For some, setting up simple lights strung across the rooftop of one’s home is all that’s required. Other folks are planning a dazzling display that goes beyond the 25,000 white lights that Clark Griswold used in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. For those with grand visions, or just need expert help, Joshua Lee’s company, LA Christmas Lights, is ready to bring your spectacular ideas to life!

Armed with a bachelor’s degree in construction engineering, plus hands-on experience in building and creating since he was 16, Joshua and his dedicated team bring precision and commitment to every holiday installation.

Recently I interviewed Joshua to find out what inspired him to start his own holiday light installation business.

How/why did you begin your business?

Joshua: I wanted to create something for myself and actually enjoy the work I was doing. I’ve tried a few different business ideas in the past, some worked, some definitely didn’t but each one taught me something. Over time, I realized how much I enjoyed the hands-on side of things, meeting new people, and bringing their ideas to life. That’s what pushed me to start this business and keep growing it.

As a young entrepreneur, what is one tip or piece of advice that you would give to recent college graduates who are interested in starting their own business?

Joshua: Just start. Seriously. Everyone talks about wanting to do this and that, but hardly anyone actually takes the first step. I’ve failed, but I’m glad I kept going. You might fail, too; that’s part of it, but as a recent college grad, this is genuinely the best time to take risks. Money comes and goes, but you only get a short window to be a young entrepreneur with nothing to lose.

My biggest regret is not starting sooner. And whatever you do, make sure it’s something you love. I love my business, and seeing my clients smile when we finish a job makes everything worth it. And above all, always lead by example.

What do you like best about having a business in the San Fernando Valley?

Joshua: Everyone is so different and unique with a lot of different cultural backgrounds. I get to meet so many different types of people, and that is my favorite part of the job.

If there was one thing you wish you knew before you began your business, what would that be?

Joshua: Take action and go after something that actually matters to you. I tried chasing quick money before, but it never felt fulfilling. I made money, lost money, and learned a lot about how to communicate with clients along the way.
