Yakumi Sushi in Burbank {Foodie Review}

Posted on July 18, 2025 | Filed Under: Food | Tags: Burbank sushi restaurants, sushi restaurants Los Angeles, Visit Burbank, Yakumi | 8 Comments

At the corner of Riverside Drive and North Maple Street in Burbank is a fast-casual sushi spot called Yakumi. The restaurant has been open for five years and is a favorite among studio workers during the week, and local residents on the weekend.

Recently I visited Yakumi with my parents. My dad loves sushi, and I wanted to treat my parents to a nice place! They offer a nice sized patio, but we opted to eat indoors since it was lunchtime and kind of warm. I’ve seen photos of the patio at night and it looks really pretty, so I’m going to try to come back for dinner one of these days.

After speaking to Steven, the manager, who gave us the rundown on the specials, we ordered the following:

  • Yakumi Signature Box: Yellowtail, salmon, albacore and tuna sushi
  • Handroll Combo Roll Box: CA roll, Avocado roll and Veggie roll
  • The Studio Roll Box: Crunchy specialty roll, spicy tuna cut, and baked crab handroll
  • The Sunset: This is an off-menu roll that is so light and refreshing, it’s perfect for summertime

All of our boxes came with sides of edamame, cucumber salad and/or seaweed salad.

My dad loved the sushi that came in his Signature Box – yellowtail, salmon, albacore and tuna.

The handrolls that my mom ordered were delicious.

My favorite item from the Studio Box was the crunchy specialty roll – eight pieces of deliciousness with a dollop of a special sauce on top!

Pro Tip: Order the Sunset as a starter. We liked it so much that we ordered seconds!

One other suggestion, if you’re on your lunch hour, you can order ahead and pick it up from Yakumi’s ‘To Go’ window. Overall, we really enjoyed the food served at Yakumi and I can’t wait to come back with my husband and daughter. They use the freshest fish and only high-quality ingredients, and trust me, you can tell!

Thanks, Yakumi for having us!
