Cormorant Boutique Hotel is a modern hotel located in the heart of La Jolla Village. The hotel sits on the same site as the former La Jolla Inn. After the property changed ownership, it underwent extensive renovations, and in May 2022 the Cormorant Boutique Hotel opened its doors. The Cormorant has 26 guest rooms, most with balconies and ocean views. We were lucky to stay in two of them (more on that later). Upon check-in, your car … [Read more...]

Wendy Ramirez_Ever After Bakery-1

I remember watching the news one morning and an interview featuring Ever After Bakery caught my interest. I started following them on Instagram from that moment on. With each photo of baked goods – from cakes to cookies and cake pops, I’ve wondered, “Who is the baker responsible for all of this magical goodness?” I recently reached out to Wendy to find out how she got her start in the baking industry, what she likes best about having a … [Read more...]

Once Upon a Rind - cookbook cover_square

Cheese boards, charcuterie, or cheese plates – call it what you like, these snack boards are all the rage. You’ve nibbled on these snacks at weddings, parties and holiday gatherings. I’ve even bought them from a local purveyor, Honey Plate Co. – a female-owned LA-based business. However, there’s nothing like building your own snack board, especially when they are creatively themed like the ones featured in “Once Upon a Rind in … [Read more...]
