Twisters Blasts Into Homes Online! {Giveaway Contest}

Posted on August 16, 2024 | Filed Under: Pop Culture | Tags: Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell, Lee Isaac Chung, Twisters, Universal Studios Home Entertainment | 13 Comments

“Twisters” is an incredible movie and a wild ride! Having seen it in the theaters, I am so glad that it’s available now in a Digital format to buy or rent. It’s the kind of movie that you want to see again because if you blink, there’s bound to be things that you missed upon first watch!

“Twisters” brings back the blockbuster disaster epic with a whirlwind of heart-stopping action and exhilarating thrills. Ever since a devastating tornado encounter, Kate (Daisy Edgar-Jones) gave up chasing storms across the Oklahoma prairie to safely study them on screens in New York City. Lured back to the field by her friend Javi (Anthony Ramos) and a once-in-a-lifetime scientific opportunity, Kate crosses paths with Tyler (Glen Powell), a charming daredevil and self-proclaimed tornado wrangler whose thirst for tornado-tracking adventures made him a social media sensation. As storm season intensifies with terrifying phenomena unlike anything seen before, Kate and Tyler realize they may need to work together if they are to have any chance of taming, and surviving, an unprecedented outbreak of destructive tornados.

I’m old enough to remember seeing the first “Twister” movie with Helen Hunt and the late Bill Paxton in a movie theater. So you might be wondering, do I need to have seen that in order to watch “Twisters”? Absolutely not! This is a stand-alone movie. While it was nice that I rewatched the first one the weekend prior to seeing “Twisters” in the theater, it wasn’t necessary.

“Twisters” is directed by Lee Isaac Chung (Minari). The film stars Glen Powell (Anyone But You, Top Gun: Maverick) alongside Daisy Edgar-Jones (Where The Crawdads Sing, Fresh), David Corenswet (Pearl, “The Politician”), Anthony Ramos (In The Heights, Hamilton), and Brandon Perea (Nope).

In a touching gesture, the filmmakers hired Bill Paxton’s Son James for a small scene in the movie. I thought the cameo is a nice Easter egg and if you want to read James Paxton’s interview, you can click here to read more.

Back to the movie…I know that for some people, the real appeal to this movie is Glen Powell and boy, does he deliver! His swagger and jokes are big draw, but make no mistake, Daisy Edgar-Jones holds her own, and then some!

Powell and Edgar-Jones have great chemistry in the movie and the interesting thing about the storyline is that you’re not quite sure who to root for at first.

Overall, the movie is very entertaining with great performances all around! The PG-13 film is available to buy or rent on digital platforms right now.

    Excellent read, Jen! And I can’t wait to watch. Truely enjoyed Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt in the first one. Both excellent actors. Glad to hear it’s a standalone and not a sequel!
