Happy Friday to you all! If you love food trucks, you’ll want to come out to Food Truck Friday in Granada Hills. So many food trucks line up on Chatsworth Street, between Zelzah Ave. & White Oak Ave. It is a fun family atmosphere – sometimes they even have musical street performers on the corner. I almost always run into someone I know!
Usually the big named food trucks (Kogi BBQ & The Grilled Cheese Truck) visit on Fridays. However one must really sample the other not so well known trucks as well. Some of my favorites include Get Toasted & Crepe’n Around.
Do you food truck? If so, what are some of your favorites? Would love to hear your suggestions in the comment section below!

Hah. I love that Get Toasted truck.. they come to my First thursdays in San Pedro every month… love the food trucks.. when i first moved to Cali I was kind obsessed with them… (did not have many in MN quite yet!) That’s changed a bit 😉

I love how a lot of towns in SoCal have these “First Fridays” or “First Thursdays”! I think it fosters a sense of community. It’s interesting how much has changed in the last 5 years. Kogi BBQ & The Grilled Cheese Truck first came on the scene about that time & the lines used to be super long (like 1-2 hours). Now there is so much to choose from & it’s nice to know that it’s spreading to other states. 🙂

We’ve tried the Grilled Cheese truck, Boba truck, and a few others I cannot recall their names. But so far, so good. Been back several times. I love that there are so many there to choose from but on days where I cannot decide…. lol.
Does Kogi still go to the Granada location? I didn’t see their truck.

Kogi still goes on Friday nights, but late – usually get there from 9:30-11pm. Not sure why they arrive so late, maybe to get the night owls? Lol… We tend to only hit up Kogi on Wednesdays when they are parked in front of A Sweet Design (cupcake shop on Chatsworth St.). They are there from 6-8:30pm. Btw, the owner of Kogi (Roy Choi) has a book coming out in the Fall about his life & the food truck phenom. No, I don’t work for them, but I follow him on Twitter! He has an interesting point of view. 🙂

I need to start a veggie-lovers food truck. So many of the trucks are meat-oriented. Looks like you have quite a variety of trucks in your area.

There are some vegetarian options out there, but it is few & far between. My cousin came out with me once to tour the trucks. She’s a vegetarian & we had to look all over to find something that wasn’t just a grilled cheese or plain crepe. She ended up buying a falafel off of a Greek truck.

Kogi is also in Northridge on Devonshire by Honeybaked Ham on Tuesdays from 9:30-11:30. We love Get Toasted. One of the owners is a personal friend. Their salbutes are amazing! Jogasaki is good too. Whatever happened to the Burger Boss truck? Do you know if Seoul Sausage will ever make an appearance in GH?
mom2chloe06 says
I love Get Toasted’s salbutes too! I haven’t seen Burger Boss in a long time. Not sure where Seoul Sausage is trucking these days. I remember talking to one food truck owner (this was when gas was at an all-time high) & he said that unless they do tremendous business in a certain location, he tends to stay close to his “home base” of the Wilshire Blvd. area.

I love the GH food truck night – I think our little part of town really started feeling like a community when the trucks came. I miss the Wednesday trucks! I just wish there were more vegan options.

I thought the Wednesday night trucks would come back during the summer, but it seems only Kogi comes out to Chatsworth Street on those days. I agree, vegan/vegetarian options are lacking. I’ve heard of a few “green” trucks, but they don’t seem to come out to this part of the Valley.
