Disney fans lined up at The Oaks Mall in Thousand Oaks this past Saturday morning in anticipation of the Disney Store grand opening. I was on-hand with my daughter to take in the festivities!
While we waited outside the mall, Disney Store Cast Members (i.e. store employees) handed out these cute Mickey Ear Hats to the first 500 guests in line. Isn’t it cute?!
When the line finally moved into the mall, we were able to get the first glimpse of the new store. The latest Disney-Pixar movie Inside Out had merchandise prominently displayed in the front. We could also see the magical trees in the distance. In case you were wondering, the Disney Store is located on the first floor between the food court & Macy’s. Take note tired parents, it is also catty–corner from Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, which is the place I hit up directly after shopping the store (but I digress…).
As soon as we got inside the store, at the very front we saw Star Wars & Marvel merch on display. I noticed that they had a bigger selection than what is offered at my local store in Northridge. Perhaps that is due to the grand opening in T.O. but I also noticed that the store square footage is bigger than the one at my local mall.
Have you seen the TV commercials for Disney’s Descendants which premieres on the Disney Channel this Friday, July 31st? You’ll be happy to note that the store has fun merchandise in support of the TV movie.
Here is a close up of just one of several magical trees that is in the store. Fans of Frozen will be happy to see that they have a display in the store full of toys & clothes.
Does your little girl want to walk through a castle and/or see her favorite princess atop a turret? You’re in luck, they have one here at the Thousand Oaks Disney Store!
Highlighting a truly immersive Disney experience is the big screen TV that is located conveniently near the checkout line. Little ones can choose to watch Disney movies or shows (snippets really) from a touch screen. There are benches to sit on, so while mom pays for the items, your kids can wait patiently glued to the screen. 🙂

It is such a fun store. I remember when they had the original Disney Store at The Oaks Mall over a decade ago. Then it closed & I’m SO glad that it came back this year. Love the redesign!

Clean and really nice after the remodeling – the parking garage was a nice addition and really helps with the parking. Also, I really like the addition of the outdoor area and movie theatre – it s really expanded the mall with a bunch of new stores.

Yep, I agree Ralph! It’s such a nice mall, especially when you compare what it was like 10-15 years ago. So many great improvements, including the new Disney Store!
