Arctic Zero: Fit Frozen Desserts

Posted on August 27, 2015 | Filed Under: Food | Tags: Arctic Zero, Fit Frozen Desserts, low cal ice cream | 8 Comments

I don’t know about where you live but it has been blazing hot in the Valley lately! When the weather is above 90 degrees, my family (including me) craves ice cream. If it were up to my daughter, we would have ice cream every day after dinner but obviously that wouldn’t be good for our health! However there is an ice cream out there that is fat free, lactose free (great for my family/friends who have a hard digesting dairy), GMO free and certified gluten-free! That ice cream is Arctic Zero which is the pioneer of Fit Frozen Desserts™.

I recently received an awesome delivery from the folks at Arctic Zero so that I can review it for my readers & experience for myself the yumminess of this fit frozen dessert. Although I received complimentary samples, my thoughts & opinions are 100% genuine & honest.

My husband wanted to know how an ice cream can be lactose free since isn’t it made from milk? Arctic Zero uses whey protein to handcraft their ice cream. The whey protein comes from a GMO-free region where it is hormone free & ultra filtered to remove the lactose, which is a natural sugar found in milk. It’s lactose that bothers some members of my family (but thankfully not me!).

I scooped out two flavors for me, my kiddo & hubby to try. I even threw in a cookie on the side to add some fun for my kid’s bowl. I thoroughly enjoyed the scoop of Cool Mint Chip & A Lil’ Bit Chippy (vanilla ice cream with chocolate chips). Although truthfully my daughter…not so much. I think it’s because she is used to a certain type of ice cream (i.e. one that is chock full of sugar & creamy/full-fat milk). My hubby liked it enough but did confess to me later (after my kiddo left the kitchen) that it had a different after-taste than other ice creams. Again, both my husband & daughter have a sweet tooth that is much more tuned into sugar than most people I know. They love sugary lemonade & I have to water mine down, so that’s the difference in our taste buds.

Recently on National Waffle Day (yes, that’s a thing), I scooped Buttery Pecan on my waffle, drizzled it with some raw honey & had it for dessert. Since it was a multi-grain waffle & the one scoop of Artic Zero only had 75 calories, 2.5 g of fat & 7 g of sugar – I didn’t feel so guilty about indulging in this made up holiday. This is my favorite flavor of the 5 that I sampled. The ice cream has a maple taste to it with real bits of candied pecans.

My second favorite flavor that I sampled is the Cookie Dough Chip. I enjoyed the chocolate chips & the little chunks of cookie dough in the vanilla ice cream.

The last flavor that I tried was the Key Lime Pie. I’m not a huge fan of Key Lime to begin with, but I did find it refreshing on a recent hot day.

Although I sampled 5 types of ice creams, Arctic Zero has many more other flavors. You can purchase either a Creamy Pint or a Chunky Pint. The difference is that the chunky flavors are packed with chunks of deliciousness (like the cookie dough one or the Buttery Pecan). I can’t wait to try the Creamy Pint of Orange Dream or the Salted Caramel! I found Arctic Zero in my local Sprouts, where they were on sale – whoo hoo!

Speaking of price, my hubby thought the cost of one pint was a little on the pricey side, but when you factor in the savings to your waistline & health, you can’t put a price on it! Am I right?! Also those small cartons of other premium ice cream brands that I’ve seen in stores can be just as expensive.

These just sound so heavenly to me, much like my Wink Frozen Desserts. Another ice cream I have been meaning to try is So Delicious SUGAR FREE variety!! I can eat ALL of the ingredients in it, and I am READY – but I am also scared that I might find a new addiction LOL!
