I remember reading somewhere a long time ago that a proper hostess should always have a cocktail drink recipe at the ready for home entertaining. So when I received the new book “Cocktails for Cougars and Cowgirls: Simple and Delicious Drinks for Every Woman” I thought this might be my chance to learn a new drink recipe. The book contains cocktail recipes for every drink occasion.
But first…here’s a little background on the authors of “Cocktails for Cougars and Cowgirls.” Jordan Catapano & Jocelyn Dunn Muhlbach are sisters who collaborated on their book, “This Girl Walks Into a Bar.” Since its launch, the two have been busy developing other product offerings, including another book, apparel, paper goods, and barware. With Jordan’s writing and bartending chops, and Jocelyn’s graphic design expertise, the two make one fabulous team.
So as I had mentioned, I wanted to find a simple recipe that I could use at a holiday party. Here is Jordan & Jocelyn’s recipe for a Gin Mojito.
Gin Mojito
Ingredients
2 ounces gin
¾ ounce lime juice
¾ ounce mint simple syrup*
2 ounces club soda
Fresh mint garnish
Directions
In a martini shaker filled with ice, combine the gin, lime juice, and mint simple syrup. Shake several times to mix and chill. Strain the mixture into a glass filled with ice. Top with club soda and stir. Garnish with a mint sprig.
*See the mint simple syrup recipe on page 133.
So there you have it! Want to see more recipes like this one? You can buy “Cocktails for Cougars and Cowgirls: Simple and Delicious Drinks for Every Woman” online at Jordan & Jocelyn’s website here.
The sisters are also in the middle of a book tour with stops that include California, Arizona, Washington & Idaho.
