Brunch at Eureka! Woodland Hills

Posted on November 11, 2015 | Filed Under: Food | Tags: Eureka restaurant, Valley brunch spots, Woodland Hills restaurant | 4 Comments

At first blush, when you see Eureka! Woodland Hills, you might wonder – is it a sports bar, a gastropub type place or family friendly? It’s actually all of those things & more!

Sure there is a very cool Happy Hour, with great specials & a really nice bar with TVs. However, it is very family AND pet friendly! On a recent brunch outing with my family, we saw many couples but several families with kids of all ages & even pets out on the patio! The staff even brought a water bowl & placed it under the table out on the patio for the dog to drink. I’m not sure if this is the case for all of Eureka! locations but since The Village at Westfield Topanga is very dog friendly, maybe they made the exception for the Woodland Hills location.

Speaking if the patio, Eureka! Woodland Hills has a large one & the ambiance is really nice.

So how does the food taste? Well since this is a scratch kitchen that uses fresh ingredients (locally sourced when possible), it tastes really good! First we chowed down on our onion ring appetizer.

The in-house ranch dressing dipping sauce was yummy! My husband & daughter LOVE onion rings & always order them wherever we go.

The kiddo got her usual grilled cheese from the kids menu.

Hubby got the crispy shrimp tacos. The shrimp were tossed in a chipotle aioli & lime zest sauce. It tasted really good! There was a little heat to it but we are into spicy stuff. It wasn’t overly spicy but I wanted to mention it because everyone has a different reaction to “heat” in their food.

Speaking of spicy, I love Vietnamese banh mi sandwiches & Eureka! had a Lemongrass Pork Sandwich that contained a carrot-daikon slaw, jalapeno, cilantro, red pepper spread. The dish also came with the signature Eureka! handcut fries. This dish had way more heat then my hubby’s tacos.  It was good though!

Even though we were stuffed, dessert was calling our name. The kiddo had an ice cream sundae, while we opted for the Americana Apple Crisp. This dessert has caramelized apples, pecan oat crisp & vanilla bean ice cream. Since our daughter has a nut allergy, she got her own ice cream dessert since our dessert had pecans in it. The apple & oat portion was warm, but the ice cream was cold & started to melt. It was perfection!

On a side note, my parents were sitting at a completely different table, having spent the morning browsing the Farmers Market at The Village. My dad is a big football fan & he just loved watching the different games on the flat screen TVs. My mom is used to it, so she didn’t mind. This was a Sunday after all, so the bar area & also the tables near the bar had football fans. My parents ate a breakfast-y brunch (as opposed to our lunch/brunch) but since my table was on a different side of the room, I wasn’t able to see exactly what they ate.

We all really enjoyed Eureka! Woodland Hills. Like I had mentioned earlier, the restaurant is great for sports fans, families & even pets! If you ever find yourself in Woodland Hills, you should check it out!

Thank you Eureka! for hosting our brunch. For more info, check out their website, Twitter & Facebook pages.
