SpreadPB – A Peanut Butter Bar

Posted on January 14, 2015 | Filed Under: Food | Tags: ants on a log, SpreadPB, Studio City Peanut Butter Bar | 6 Comments

Editor’s Note: As of Spring 2016, the SpreadPB restaurant in Studio City is closed.

SpreadPB – A Peanut Butter Bar is a brand new fast-casual restaurant that opened this past Saturday in Studio City. Spread PB is located on popular Ventura Blvd about a block west of Laurel Canyon Blvd.

Much like the food trucks & cafes that have put a gourmet spin on grilled cheese, Spread PB takes the classic peanut butter sandwich from our childhood days & has elevated it to a higher level of yummy deliciousness. For example, this Berry Berry Nuts & Bananas Sandwich is made with blueberry bread, peanut butter & has a layer of strawberries, blueberries & bananas. It was SO good!

Not in the mood for plain ole’ peanut butter? Then try Almond Butter, Maple Bacon Peanut Butter or Coconut Peanut Butter. There are so many spreads to pick! You can choose from a set list of sandwich combos that have catchy names like The Elvis or Give Me S’more or you can build your own sandwich (BYOS).

To BYOS, you do the following:
1. Pick Your Base (Note: they have gluten-free bread for $1.45 extra)
2. Pick Your Spread
3. Choose Two Toppings

Want a healthier twist on your classic childhood favorite? Get the Ants on a Log which is celery sticks with your spread of choice and topped with raisins.

Another one that I tried & loved is the Banana Sushi, which is a banana rolled in a tortilla with peanut butter & then sliced into 8 “sushi” rolls.

In my opinion, this would be the perfect place to go to for a snack after a playdate in the park.

I recommend getting your little ones the “Smiles” snack which is Peanut Butter on top of apple slices & marshmallows. This is a snack that literally smiles back at you! What child can resist?

In my opinion, you can’t have a peanut butter sandwich without milk. Spread PB has got you covered with that & several other types of drinks.

SPB_DrinksThis cute cafe is sure to be a hit with those who crave comfort food. I predict that this will be very popular with the after-school crowd! For more information on Spread PB, check out their website & don’t forget to follow them on Twitter for their latest updates!

So tell me, if you could build your own sandwich (see menu above), what combination would you choose?

Disclosure: No monetary compensation was received for this post. Spread PB invited me to a media preview of their tasting menu which helped facilitate this review. All images are mine unless otherwise noted. As always, my opinions are 100% my own.
