I met Kelly Mobeck while attending MomFair LIVE last month. MomFair is an all-day event where moms who want to return to the workforce can get the 411 on all things career related. While at MomFair, I sat in on a panel that was all about “Finding Your Passion.” Have you ever been at a crossroads in your career or at a certain stage in your life where you wanted to take the leap & make a change? Kelly was one of the speakers at this panel & she gave some great nuggets of wisdom!
We ran into each other in the lobby between sessions & I discovered that Kelly lives in the Valley just like I do. As a certified coach, Kelly has great insight in helping people discover their leadership potential & developing it to the fullest. I’m so glad that Kelly has agreed to share her story with us!
Please meet the latest Real Mom of the SFV, Kelly J. Mobeck!
How/why did you begin your business?
Kelly: I have been a Personal & Business Coach for about 13 years now. Prior to that I was a Portfolio Manager in Mortgage Banking for about 20 years. I learned a lot through my banking years, one being that I loved assisting people create possibilities. I also knew as a Mom of two young boys (five and two at the time) that I wanted to be more available to them, and with a two hour commute each day, that wasn’t happening. I took a leap of faith, went back to school and became a Certified Coach and Facilitator with an emphasis on Leadership. My philosophy is that we are all leaders, and my job as a Coach is to assist people in tapping into who they are authentically as a leader, take action on where they want to contribute in their life and the lives of others. I get to work with individuals, businesses, and entrepreneurs on a daily basis. Often times many are in transition, and experiencing them create change and achieve the results they want, well that is the BEST! I believe anything is possible when we are intentional, and that’s what I get to assist people to be and do each day. In addition to my coaching business, I expanded my outreach by becoming a Founding Leader with Ever Skincare. I believe in conscious beauty, which is all about healthy, good for you and the environment products. With Ever, we give women and men a way to transform their skin AND their lives. What I have found in working with my team is that combining coaching plus their vision = SUCCESS, which has defined their way. What I love about this, is there is a lot of joy, abundance, and freedom, and that translates back to their families, friends, and communities. I love being a catalyst to this kind of change every day with my coaching business and Ever Skincare.
As a working mother, what is one tip or piece of advice that you would give to other female entrepreneurs?
Kelly: I always ask my clients, what is that wild, crazy, dream you’ve been thinking about? You know what I found? None of them are crazy, and all of them are making a difference that is transcending to the next generation of female entrepreneurs and leaders. So, be willing to say it out loud, lean in to your circle of support, get a coach, a mentor, or an accountability partner, and get going on it! It’s ok to run Plan A and Plan B all at the same! Do what brings you joy, we have a responsibility to the next generation of leaders!
What do you like best about having a business in the San Fernando Valley?
Kelly: We have an amazing community of people in the SFV! I love living here, and so many parts of SoCal are easily accessible from here. As a coach I can work with people all over the world actually, because a lot of it is done over the phone or Skype, however being located in the SFV allows me to work onsite with a lot of businesses, and it’s always fun being live, face to face.
If there was one thing you wish you knew before you began your business, what would that be?
Kelly: That I did not need to wait for the “right” time to make it happen, and there is no “right” way to make it happen. It takes courage, drive, determination and a plan – then simply go be in action about it. So many times we look to others to define what we “should” be doing. I did that for a while, but when I took that leap of faith, I never looked back. Work from a place of passion, and the net always appears! Being in service to people is a joy!!
I just love what Kelly has to say about making a plan but then making sure to execute it & “be in action” about it! So many times we make a plan & then get stuck in the minutiae of the details. Sometimes you have to be like Nike & “just do it!” I also like Kelly’s advice about working from a place of passion. You can tell that Kelly enjoys helping her clients, both in her coaching business & with Ever Skincare!
