Living in California, we are fortunate to be able to buy strawberries pretty much year-round. However in early May, the strawberry harvest is at its peak & you know what that means…the California Strawberry Festival is just around the corner!

The 33rd Annual California Strawberry Festival takes place on May 21 & 22, at Strawberry Meadows of College Park in Oxnard. This fun, family-friendly event will have over 50+ food booths, contests, celebrity chef demonstrations, music concerts, as well as hundreds of booths featuring arts & crafts!
Some of the fun events include:
- Strawberry Tart Toss
- Strawberry Pie Eating
- Strawberry Relay Race
- Berry Best Hat Contest
- Berry Best Dressed Baby Contest
- Strawberry Shortcake Build Off Contest
- Strawberry Promenade (where special cooking demonstrations take place)
- Strawberryland for Kids
My daughter can’t wait to go to Strawberryland, where fun carnival rides like the Berry-Go-Round & Silver Streak await. We’ll also look for the “big top” where magic shows & jugglers perform on the Jest in Time Family Fun Stage.
The biggest draw to Strawberryland for most little ones is Strawberry Shortcake, who will be there to say hi & pose for pictures!
On both Saturday & Sunday, the festival will have a variety of musical acts on TWO different stages throughout the day! The music on the Dr. Kato Stage ranges from folk music, to British beats & Latin rock. Over on the Festival Stage, you’ll hear R&B, hip hop music, classic rock & even a David Bowie tribute band!
The California Strawberry Festival is located at 3250 South Rose Avenue, Oxnard. Festival hours for both days are 10am-6:30pm. Admission is $12/Adults, $8/seniors, $5/Youth (ages 5-12) & free for kids 4 & under. NOTE: You’ll want to take advantage of the free park & ride shuttles that are located off the 101 Freeway.
