Meet Jennifer, Owner of Pops of Magic

Posted on August 28, 2023 | Filed Under: Real Moms of the SFV | Tags: Jennifer Cabrera, party catering, popcorn cart services, Pops of Magic, popsicle cart services | 3 Comments

As a host, when you are in party planning mode, the first thing that comes to mind is food and party decorations. It’s always nice to see a fun theme, charming décor and delicious food. Pops of Magic is a one-stop shop, offering a food & beverage cart, as well as party balloon decorations.

Please meet Jennifer Cabrera, owner of Pops of Magic!

How/why did you begin your business?

Jennifer: During the pandemic, I was working at Claim Jumper restaurant as an assistant general manager. Like most food establishments they temporarily closed the restaurant. During that time I spent a lot of time with my kids. A year later, once it was time to return to work and the real world, I realized that money didn’t mean everything as a single parent. I realized that quality time with my two boys was more important. My sister who is a wedding planner came up with the idea of offering popsicle cart service for events. That is how Pops of Magic came to be! We’ve grown so much from where it all began and are extremely grateful to everyone who has supported us thus far. We have now added extra services such as cotton candy cart, balloon styling, picnic set ups and much more. We are excited to add that extra pop to your next event!

As a working mother, what is one tip or piece of advice that you would give to other female entrepreneurs?

Jennifer: As a working mother, the one tip I think is extremely important is to set boundaries. Make sure to make time for your family and understand that is ok to say ‘no’ at times for the sake of your loved ones, your health and well-being.

What do you like best about having a business in the San Fernando Valley?

Jennifer: This is where I grew up and I love to be able to cater to the community and be able to bring joy to so many people during their special celebrations.

If there was one thing you wish you knew before you began your business, what would that be?

Jennifer: Being an entrepreneur is difficult at times. Though you are at home and not stuck in a 9-5 job at an office, it takes a lot of time and energy trying to grow and take your business to the next level.

I think it’s amazing that Jennifer was able to pivot from her job in the restaurant industry to running her own business in the party planning world. For more information on Pops of Magic, visit their Instagram account.

But I love that would could have a setback for her, ended up catapulting her into being an entrepreneur. I also love that she mentions “expending and growing” her business. From what I’ve noticed from another influencer I follow, starting your business is one thing, but expanding and growing takes investment as well.
She has an awesome product and I wish her much success!

Thanks for reading my interview! I applaud her for changing directions in her career, striking out on her own and wanting to grow her business. It takes a lot of determination and perseverance!
