Looking for a fun, end-of-the summer experience? Then look no further than The Lunar Light: Discovery in Santa Monica!

Recently I visited The Lunar Light: Discovery with my daughter and her friend. It’s a one-of-a-kind virtual reality (VR) adventure! Think of it as a journey that combines a walkthrough experience with elements of theatre, VR and photo opportunities.

The Lunar Light: Discovery is a unique and immersive experience that transports visitors to the surface of the Moon. The adventure features state-of-the-art VR technology, engaging actors and a discovery room where visitors can interact with lunar samples and conduct hands-on experiments. This setup provides a fascinating experience, perfect for space enthusiasts of all ages, specifically those aged 10 and up.

The way it works is that you check-in at the Officers Club where there are tables, a small gift shop and a photo wall. They also have an area that plays space-themed movies. During our visit, we watched snippets of “Interstellar” while we signed our waivers and handed over our bags for storage. You’ll want your hands free for the VR experience, but do bring your smartphone with you for photos during the moon visit!

The Officers Club

Before we suited up with our VR gear, we were greeted by Aster, an IGSA Agent. As he gave us the rundown for what to expect, we also got to pose for photos!

Along the journey as Mission Specialists, we walked on the moon collecting samples. We also met GenJack who guided us on our moon mission and Stella, the scientist who helped us analyze the data. My favorite part was interacting with robot DG (pronounced ‘Deeg’)!

The Lunar Light: Discovery is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to experience space in a way that’s both fun and educational. It’s perfect for birthday parties, group outings, team bonding, and more!

You’ll want to book tickets soon, as it’s only in Los Angeles (well, Santa Monica) for a limited engagement through October 2024!

Thanks to The Lunar Light: Discovery team for hosting our visit! My daughter and her friend (who is a space enthusiast) enjoyed it immensely. This was such a fun activity to round out our summer break.

Ticket Prices range from $47-$77. Use promo code “AWE” for 20% off!

This looks like a ton of fun. I’m sure my son would enjoy it. I personally haven’t used virtual reality but I think it’s a cool idea.
