Recently I visited ‘Accidentally Wes Anderson: The Exhibition’ which is located inside the Santa Monica Art Museum. The museum is in the heart of 3rd Street Promenade, just steps away from the beach, local shops and eateries!
As you walk into the museum, you are immediately transported to the whimsical world of Wes Anderson’s distinctive aesthetics. Featuring 10 themed rooms, the exhibition pays tribute to travel, photography, community and adventure!
The exhibition contains over 200 real-life images, projected videos, and themed rooms that focus on ‘Transportation’,‘Maritime’, ‘Los Angeles’, ‘Nature’, and more!
One of my favorite themes was the ‘Hotel’ photo series featuring hotels from around the world.
For SoCal residents, the theme that will resonate the most is ‘Los Angeles.’ Here’s a quick video that features that area of the museum.

Now you may be wondering, how did this exhibition come about? Founded in 2017 by Brooklyn-based husband and wife team Wally and Amanda Koval, the Accidentally Wes Anderson (AWA) concept was born out of a passion for travel and adventure. What started out as an Instagram page later evolved into a book that was published in 2020 and became a New York Times best seller.
Thanks, Fever and ‘Accidentally Wes Anderson: The Exhibition’ for hosting my visit! I really enjoyed the playful atmosphere, artistic photos and the short films playing in the theater.
Editor’s Note – July 26th: Accidentally Wes Anderson in LA has just been extended for a limited time until August 18th! I highly recommend going to see it and dining at one of the local restaurants either before or after visiting.
Ticket Prices range from $16-20 per person.
