Celebrating Galentine’s Day at Shot of Art LA

Posted on February 13, 2024 | Filed Under: Reviews | Tags: Galentine's Day, painting experiences, Shot of Art, things to do in LA | 14 Comments

Today is Galentine’s Day and to celebrate the occasion, I recently visited Shot of Art in downtown Los Angeles with two of my friends.

Shot of Art - group shot

Shot of Art has several different art packages to choose from. We participated in what’s called “Fluid Art” where you create cool patterns from acrylic paint, silicone and a torch burner. Admittedly I am not that great at painting, so this form of abstract art really helped me get over my creative block!

First our paint instructor had us choose 4-5 colors.

Then we assembled our paint station.

Our paint instructor, Ozzy, guided us through the steps and soon we had a canvas full of paint!

After tilting and turning our canvases, we got it to where we liked what we saw. Then it was time for Ozzy to use the torch burner on our paintings.

Paint Canvas - torch process

It might be hard to tell, but the torch creates a cool pattern on the painting. I think it has to do with the heat and how it affects the paint. He explained it but I was so mesmerized by the process that I can’t recall exactly how it works. All I know is that I loved the effect!

After we were done with painting our canvas, we were allowed to paint the walls of the room and take photos!

The whole experience takes about an hour. They have other types of art experiences that range from painting a bear figurine to ‘Shooting & Spinning’ where you shoot down water balloons that are filled with paint onto your canvas. You can even host birthday parties for up to 40 people! One thing to take note of is that your painting will need a minimum of two days for drying. So you’ll have to go back to Shot of Art after a couple days to pick up your masterpiece! 😉

I was told that they will hold it for a maximum of two weeks, so I plan on picking it up this weekend. I can’t wait to see the finished product.

Lobby Area

It’s a super fun experience and great for a date night, Girls Night Out or even a team building event! This Galentine’s celebration allowed me to spend time with friends. Having a creative outlet was a great reminder that love can be expressed in so many ways and to celebrate the good things in your life! Thank you, Shot of Art, for hosting us. We had a great time painting our canvases!

An art class sounds like a ton of fun especially painting. I’ll have to take a class like this in my area one day.
