A few weeks ago, my husband and I went on a staycation to Ventura Ranch KOA.
We stayed here once before with our daughter back in October 2019 and had a great time. Fun Fact: During the month of October, they host Halloween activities on the weekends.
With our daughter away at school, we thought this would be a fun getaway. On a Friday after work, headed over to Santa Paula. Ventura Ranch KOA is an easy drive (under an hour) from the San Fernando Valley.
Once we arrived, we checked in at guest services and immediately booked our reservation for Soar Over Ventura, a zip-line/adventure ropes course that’s located inside of the KOA. The KOA staff member gave us a brief rundown of the KOA, along with a map and instructions on where to find our cabin.
Ventura Ranch KOA offers a variety of accommodations, from cabins with sleeping lofts and kitchens, to tent camping, RV sites, teepees, Conestoga wagons, and even glamping tents!
Our cabin had a great view from the upper deck, and we took full advantage of the kitchen by eating our breakfast and dinners inside.
On Saturday morning after breakfast, we explored the campgrounds. They have so many fun activities to choose from including:
- Rock Climbing Tower
- Jumping Pillow
- Gem Mining
- KOA Labyrinth
- Adventure Course
- Eagles Nest Ziplining
- Pool (open during warmer season)
Once we were down touring around, we met with Adventure Course Instructor and geared up for zip-lining and the ropes obstacle challenge. You can read all about our adventures here.
Since we worked up an appetite, we decided to go into town for lunch at Flight 126 Cafe, a charming restaurant that’s adjacent to Santa Paula Airport. You can see the planes taking off from their outdoor patio and the food is very tasty!
Sunday was spent hiking around and then we headed home. All in all, it was a great weekend mini vacay!
Ventura Ranch KOA has something for everyone. You can do traditional camping, but for those who want an elevated experience, this KOA takes glamping to the next level. In fact, see below to see a sneak peek of a new cabin and a new glamping tent that will be available for booking early next year!
@realmomofsfv Last month I got a sneak peek of two new accommodations @KOAventuraranch that will be available to book in early 2025! #VenturaRanchKOA #glamping #VenturaKOA #SantaPaula #ThingsToDoInVenturaCounty

This looks like a very nice KOA to stay at. I stayed at one a very long time ago. They had cabins and they were nice. Even though there wasn’t a restroom in the cabin, they had a bathhouse close by.
