It’s Monday and has been raining every day in Southern California since Thursday, which feels like an eternity. We are not used to this much rain in such a short time. Not only that, but I feel for those who live in flash flood areas, like those affected by the LA fires earlier this year. However, we need the rain and sometimes it’s nice to stay indoors and relax. Which brings me back to this Monday Musings blog post and the five things that I’ve been reflecting on!
In Your Dreams – Netflix movie
I found a cute movie on Netflix that I watched on Saturday because I was in the mood for a feel-good animated movie. It’s called “In Your Dreams” and the main character is voiced by Jolie Hoang-Rappaport (“Just Add Magic”) and directed by Alex Woo (“Go! Go! Cory Carson”). It’s a sweet story where the two kids in the movie have wild dreams, go on an adventure and meet the Sandman! Craig Robinson (“The Bad Guys 2”) voices a hilarious stuffed animal named “Baloney Tony”! If you have kids or are just in the mood for a cute carton, then I highly recommend.
Heights Wellness Retreat Porter Ranch
Last week I had Veterans Day off and I took advantage of the holiday by doing a little bit of self care at a newly opened spa. The Heights Wellness Retreat is located in the Porter Ranch Town Center and offers a variety of wellness services/treatments. Check out my Instagram post below and see the beautiful space!
Black Angus Steakhouse in Ventura
Growing up, I spent considerable time in Ventura. I visited the beaches in high school and played mini golf at Golf N’ Stuff! Black Angus Steakhouse is a favorite among locals there and after being closed for remodeling due to a ruptured water pipe that flooded the restaurant, I am happy to report that it is re-opening this week!
Get ready to fire up your appetite because the Black Angus Steakhouse in Ventura is officially re-opening, and everyone is invited to celebrate!
Join the Ventura Chamber of Commerce and the Black Angus team at 11am on Tuesday, November 18 for a morning of celebration. Guests are welcome to come and dine, with the first 50 receiving a free burger with their meal.
Additionally, the restaurant will be running promotions all week long to commemorate the re-opening.
- November 18-19: Free burger for the first 50 guests
- November 20-22: Free Wagyu Dumpling Appetizer
- Giving away free merchandise all week long
DroneArt Show at Rose Bowl Stadium
Earlier this summer, my family went to watch the DroneArt Show at the LA Equestrian Center in Burbank. So when I heard that the DroneArt Show was returning to Southern CA for a one night performance, I knew that I had to take my dad! He is really into drones and had seen videos from when I went back in June.
We had a good time on Sunday night, despite the light drizzle. The lights were impressive on the stage with the musicians and around the Rose Bowl Stadium!
Fortunately the organizers at the Rose Bowl handed out free rain ponchos to all! Below is just one of the visuals that we saw on Sunday night. Stay tuned for my Instagram Reel!
Honey Homes
The last thing on my list that I’ve been ruminating over has to do with home repairs. We had a closet in our primary bedroom that was “off track” and couldn’t close for nearly a year! We wanted to call a handyman, but we kept putting it off.
As luck would have it, I had the opportunity to try out Honey Homes, which is annual membership, where you get ongoing service from a skilled, dedicated handyman to help address your home maintenance needs. Annual members can choose between different subscription packages and visits can be use flexibly over the course of 12 months. We had window shutters installed, sliding closet doors repaired, and a dimmer switch replaced! Check out my short video below and if you’d like to try it out, click this link to get a free 30-minute walk-through and 1.5-hour handyman visit! Best of all, you’ll be checking off your to-dos with no commitment.
Happy Monday and have a great week!

That is definitely a lot of rain for Southern California! My in laws, who live there, are not enjoying it one bit!
I love that you got some self care in, it’s so important to take care of ourselves! I need to follow suit!!
Have a great week too. It does sound like you’re having loads of rain where you are. I live in England and we had our fair share last week although now it has turned cold too.
Sounds like a great week. The drone art show looks fun
Those light shows where they use drones instead of fireworks are something I have been meaning to get too. Sounds like you had a lot of reflections on a rainy monday.
I have to check out In Your Dreams! I love animated films like this. I’ll watch them with or WITHOUT the kids. LOL.
I am not sure I have In Your Dreams on my Netflix, I will double-check. I love animations and almost don’t miss a single one.
The drone art show much have been good despite the rain. That sounds like such a good night out.

I enjoyed this because it felt so relatable. And I wish I could see the drone show at the Rose Bowl Stadium, it looks incredible.

I totally get what you mean about rainy days. Your reflections feel real and comforting, not overdone.
I live in the UK and the rain is literally destroying my soul. I hate the wet weather ! We have had snow today too!
