Now that my daughter is back in school, I get to resume my workouts on a regular basis. I did workout over the summer, but I have to admit that it did start to taper off. Once it hit August, my three times a week workouts turned into once or twice a week. I always work better when I have a goal in mind. This past spring, I worked out 3-4 times a week because we were going on a family vacation in June to Disney’s Aulani in Hawaii. I had wanted to … [Read more...]
Fun Day at Annenberg Community Beach House
This past weekend I went with my family to the Annenberg Community Beach House. This is by far my favorite place in Santa Monica for family fun in the sun. We started out the day by going to the pool. There are plenty of lounge chairs, tables, umbrellas & two changing rooms. They even have a recreation room on the second floor where you can take your kids to play checkers or read while taking in an ocean view. Also next to the beach house … [Read more...]
Food Truck Friday
Happy Friday to you all! If you love food trucks, you’ll want to come out to Food Truck Friday in Granada Hills. So many food trucks line up on Chatsworth Street, between Zelzah Ave. & White Oak Ave. It is a fun family atmosphere - sometimes they even have musical street performers on the corner. I almost always run into someone I know! Usually the big named food trucks (Kogi BBQ & The Grilled Cheese Truck) visit on Fridays. However … [Read more...]
Summer Sounds at the Hollywood Bowl
Last week I attended Summer Sounds at the Hollywood Bowl with my daughter. This is a summer program for kids that feature arts & crafts, as well as a musical performance. The theme for this particular performance was American Bluegrass music. We arrived at the Hollywood Bowl around 10am. Parking in Lot B was a breeze & FREE (major plus). I had signed up my daughter to do the arts & crafts segment of the program first. There were … [Read more...]
626 Night Market
This past Saturday I finally got to try out the 626 Night Market at the Santa Anita Park in Arcadia. Being that I live in the San Fernando Valley, this was kind of a trek for me. However, it was well worth the drive! One of my friends had gone in July & I took her advice – showing up at the gates right when it opened. Getting there early is crucial for someone like me who likes to avoid the crowds & long lines of typical food … [Read more...]
Daytripping in the LA Fairfax District
Over the 4th of July weekend, my daughter & I had the opportunity to go into “the city” for a Mommy & Me day. My husband had to work that Saturday, so I thought – let’s explore LA! We started off with a visit to Fonuts. This is a specialty donut shop that bakes their donuts instead of the traditional frying. They have vegan & gluten-free donuts, as well as some specialty flavors like Chorizo Cheddar, Blueberry Earl Grey, Coconut … [Read more...]
