#Caliwater Cactus Water Keeps Me Hydrated

Posted on September 18, 2014 | Filed Under: Food | Tags: Cactus Water, Caliwater, prickly pear cactus superfruit | 2 Comments

I drink a lot of water during the day, especially on days that I work out. Gotta keep hydrated! However during this mini heatwave that we have been experiencing in LA, well really ALL of Southern California, it’s always good to double up on the water. Fortunately for me, I’ve had Caliwater Cactus Water to satisfy my thirst.

Never heard of cactus water? I didn’t either until about 3 weeks ago when I saw Kat Odell’s Instagram pic of it. I was instantly intrigued! So what exactly is it? Caliwater Cactus Water is a drink that is made up of water, prickly pear cactus juice & lemon juice. There is some other stuff in there as well & if you are really curious about their nutrition facts, here is a copy of their label.

A couple things to note (just in case you can’t read it), this drink has 32 calories & 7 grams of sugar. Yay! I know a lot of beverages out there have a high content of sugar, whether it is energy drinks or juice products. So the low cal & low sugar content of Caliwater Cactus Water made me very happy.

So how does it taste? It tastes like water but has a lemony, berry fruit taste to it. I don’t know if that is due to the prickly pear cactus superfruit, but either way it tastes good! You know what else is good about it? Caliwater Cactus Water is gluten-free, vegan & Kosher!

Living out here in Los Angeles, you quickly realize during this time of heat (and drought) that we do live in a desert. So I found it unique that this company, which is based in LA, has turned to a plant that is found in desert regions to make a cool beverage.

So where can you pick up a bottle of Caliwater Cactus Water? It currently can be found in 130 select The Fresh Market locations throughout the U.S. at a retail price of $3.49 for an 11 oz. bottle. I also saw it on Amazon.com.

You can check out the Caliwater website for more info & also follow them on Facebook for the latest updates!

Disclosure: No monetary compensation was received for this post. I received complimentary samples from Caliwater which helped facilitate this review. All images & opinions are 100% my own.
