Let’s be honest, I’ve seen more wrinkles on my face in the last five years than I care to admit. I don’t know whether it’s a combination of diet; lack of sleep; gaining weight, losing weight & then gaining it again (which I understand affects skin elasticity). It’s probably a combination of all three. Then again, I’m sure all of that time spent laying out in the sun during my high school years (before I knew any better) probably contributed to those sun spots & lines around my eyes.
Whatever the case may be, sometimes it bugs me to see those “expression lines” around my eyes. I have also noticed those “smile lines” around my mouth deepening over time. When I heard about this revolutionary product from Rodan + Fields called REDEFINE Acute Care™ Skincare for Expression Lines, I decided to give it a try.
Now I know there’s this whole school of thought where one should embrace their wrinkles (I “earned” every one of ‘em – what does that really mean?) & age gracefully. I say, whatever makes you happy, then go for it. I don’t see myself getting Botox or fillers (never say never though, right?) but with REDEFINE Acute Care™ Skincare for Expression Lines, you can treat these problem areas at home – no needles required!
The idea is that you put these patches on your face, smooth it over those lines you want to minimize & let the patented liquid cones “melt” into the wrinkles.
According to Rodan + Fields, the liquid cone technology used in Acute Care contains hyaluronic acid & anti-aging peptides to “create super potent liquid micro cones that melt into a wrinkle.” There’s a lot of data behind this product, but what I really wanted to know is if it works on my skin.
I received four sets to use (1 pair of patches per set). Over the course of one month, I used two sets for my mouth area & two sets for my eyes. Before I went to sleep, I washed & dried my face. Then I carefully placed the patches over the desired area. Wear overnight & while you are sleeping…BOOM, the magic happens! Ok, maybe not that dramatically.
So how did it turn out? The treatment that I applied around my eyes worked minimally. I have fine lines around my eyes but bigger wrinkles underneath. I was hoping that it would completely get rid of the ones underneath, but that’s not realistic. Remember, I received four sets to sample, but there are 10 sets when you purchase the package. So it’s quite possible that had I done the entire treatment of 10 sets, I’d have a different outcome.
I was much more satisfied with the treatment of my “smile” lines. I think it was much more effective at minimizing the lines around my mouth & I was happy with the results.
So what did I learn from this other than to never do close-up shots of my face without make-up (at least cover-up), really good lighting & possibly Photoshop?!? My goodness, some of the pics that didn’t make the cut for this post…my kid could probably blackmail me with them. I have now nicknamed the bags under my eyes “LV” after Louis Vuitton!
Seriously though, what I learned from this experiment is that the folks at Rodan + Fields have developed a great line of products. I also tried a sample of their micro-dermabrasion paste, night serum & lip serum. Katie Rodan & Kathy Fields are the dermatologists that developed Proactiv. Under Rodan + Fields, they have created a variety of products that can treat four common skin concerns: Hypersensitive Skin, Adult Acne, Sun Damage & Aging. Something for everyone!

You had me laughing out loud! Very funny post. I’ll check them out and see how much they cost… I also think that even if you try to “embrace” aging, it is also much better to delay it as much as possible!

Thanks for checking out my blog post. Glad that you found it entertaining & informative! 🙂
Boom! I love magic! Though tempting, I am more likely to make an investment like this if I am able to see full, complete results. I wish you got to test with all 10. It does sound intriguing though.

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I do think the 4 samples helped minimize fine lines somewhat; however I agree, it might have made more of an impact had I done all 10.
I see the improvements here. Although I can say that your fine lines before looks good on you. But after you treatment I can really see it look more good.
