Ruby Ribbon Shapewear Hugs in All the Right Places

Posted on December 4, 2014 | Filed Under: Mommy Stuff | Tags: personal styling session, Ruby Ribbon, shapewear | 6 Comments

Everyone knows that you can’t build a house without the right foundation. The same principal applies to wearing a great outfit. Seeing my weight fluctuate over the years (especially after having a child), I’ve realized that wearing shapewear is essential for certain outfits.

Now we’ve all heard of that one brand, you know, the one that rhymes with “franks.” A few years ago, I wore a shapewear item from that company & the compression was so tight that it was hard to enjoy my night out, let alone my meal at dinner. :/

So when I was introduced to Ruby Ribbon, I was somewhat skeptical about how I would feel in it. Would I be able to breathe? Sure it might make my dress look better but would I feel like a stuffed sausage? Boy was I wrong! I tried on Ruby Ribbon’s classic cami & felt supported in all the right places. Unlike traditional shapewear that offers such firm compression that you feel like you can’t even breathe, let alone sit down in it, Ruby Ribbon shapewear consists of a variable compression so that it feels like you’re getting a “hug” to smooth you out, just where you need it most.

Another great feature is the silicon gripper edge at the bottom of the cami. See the Ruby Ribbon logo at the bottom of the tank? On the inside of the tank, lining the bottom of the cami is the silicon gripper that holds the cami in place so that it doesn’t ride up. Genius!

I was invited to attend my own personal styling session with Stephanie who is a Ruby Ribbon Stylist. When it comes to trying on shapewear (or any clothes for that matter), sometimes it’s nice to try it on in a comfortable setting of your home or a friend’s house. That way you can make it like a party or a fun styling session, as opposed to trying it out in a dressing room closet at your nearest department store. You know, the ones with the fluorescent lighting & funhouse mirrors?! Ok, maybe it’s not exactly a funhouse mirror but you know what I’m saying. For some reason the way I look in a bathing suit or shapewear when I look in the mirror at Macy’s isn’t the same as when I’m at home in natural lighting. But I digress…

In addition to shapewear, Ruby Ribbon has a product line of shaping essentials. The outfit I’m wearing below is the Slim Leg Pant that has Skinny Band™ technology. It smooths out the tummy area & is made with a stretch knit fabric. A purple lace tank over a black cami, along with Ruby Ribbon’s Hepburn Cardigan, completes the look.

Another item from their Fall/Winter line that I like is their Jane Top. It has a built-in shaping shelf bra that offers support, so the top can be worn without a bra. The Jane Top also has an inner shaping “slip” to smooth & slim throughout.

My favorite item that I tried on that day is the Veronica Top, which I’ve nicknamed the holiday bling top. I wore it with Ruby Ribbon’s charcoal gray leggings, which have the Ruby Ribbon Skinny Band™ technology. I love these leggings so much that I had to have a pair! You can wear them at the gym or while running errands, but then also dress it up with a pretty sweater & boots for an evening look.

I liked the Veronica Top so much that I just had to buy it! The sample that I tried on during the styling session was slightly loose, so I opted to order a size down. I plan on pairing it with a black mini skirt for a party I’m attending next week.

Would you like to have your own personal styling session? Maybe gather a few girlfriends at your house & make it a party? Check out the Ruby Ribbon website for more details & be sure to follow Ruby Ribbon on Facebook & Twitter!

Disclosure: No monetary compensation was received for this post. I attended a personal styling session & received a complimentary pair of leggings. All other purchases were paid for by me. Photo images are mine unless otherwise noted. As always, my opinions are 100% my own.

I have several different types of shapewear. They are great when I just needed a little help to smooth out the lines. 🙂

The fabric on that looks so nice! I had not heard of Ruby Ribbon and could certainly use a little shapewear. Thanks for letting me know!
