I’ve been using Salonpas patches for years. I remember being in high school & using these patches whenever I had leg pain & soreness. I would raid my dad’s medicine cabinet & get one of these patches. The tiny patches contain a topical analgesic that works on both muscle & joint pain.
A few years after my daughter was born, I participated in my very first 5k race, jogging around the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. I knew that I would be sore afterwards since I hadn’t trained very well for the 5k. So the very first thing I did when I got home was grab the box of Salonpas & slap a patch on each leg. 🙂
One of my first jobs after college was for a toy company based in the Valley. I often had to drive to the Westside, like Santa Monica & Venice for photo shoots. Sitting in traffic while driving a route much like the way this greeting card describes would aggravate my sciatica. Having a car with stick shift will do that to ya!
So what do I use for my sciatica pain? You guessed it…Salonpas!
Fast-forward to the present day & I’m still driving all over LA for work! Fortunately for me, Salonpas has come out with some new & improved products.
There is now a larger sized Pain Relief Patch, so now I don’t have to double up on those smaller patches for my legs like I did many years ago after my first 5k. There is also a Gel Patch Hot which soothes on contact, delivering waves of heat & instant relief! I used that particular patch a few weeks ago after I took a bootcamp class. I had developed slight lower back pain from doing too much ab work on a stability ball.
Salonpas also has a Deep Relieving Gel which my hubby plans on throwing into his gym bag since he plays a lot of basketball. There is also a Jet Spray, which sprays on clear & dries fast.
The reason why I like Salonpas so much is that it provides targeted relief right at the source of the pain. Unlike aspirin or acetaminophen, which for me can take 30-60 minutes to kick in, this helps manage my pain pretty much instantly. Now I’m not opposed to taking over-the-counter pain medication if I have a sinus headache; however when I have shoulder & neck pain from sitting at the computer too long, then Salonpas is what I reach for first!

So tell me, what do you use for muscle & joint pain? Have you ever tried Salonpas?
