I’ve lived in my current home for almost 15 years & in the last decade we’ve remodeled two bathrooms & our family room. Many of the home improvement items & fixtures were purchased from my local Orchard Supply Hardware, which is literally down the street from my house.
Recently I was invited to preview the newest Orchard Supply Hardware to open in the Valley. It’s in Woodland Hills, located on Ventura Blvd near Corbin Avenue. This store was formerly the space of a grocery store & was rebuilt from the ground up.
I know a big topic of discussion on the local news is the California drought. While we all want to do our part by minimizing water use, one thing I am considering is switching out our lawn & planting more drought resistant plants. Fortunately Orchard Supply Hardware has plenty of plants to choose from, along with helpful store associates to help you choose your plants wisely for your next garden project.
Another great feature at the Woodland Hills OSH is the Potting Bench section of the nursery. Orchard Supply Hardware will pot your plant for free with the purchase of any pot & plant. What a great deal!
One of the things I noticed right away while touring the new Woodland Hills store is the decorative AND informative signage. I can appreciate these thoughtful details which are sorely lacking in those “big box” home improvement stores.
My cousin is considering switching out her backyard sprinklers to a drip irrigation system. They have several systems to choose from at OSH, so you know where I’ll recommend her to go!
While we are on the subject of the backyard, did you know that OSH has a variety of patio furniture to choose from? I can just picture that outdoor couch on my back patio! 🙂
In the last six years, my family has been making a conscious decision to be more “green.” Since we have recessed lights throughout our house, my hubby has replaced them with LED lights (once the old ones burn out) to be more eco-friendly. We always buy our LED lights from OSH because they have a wide selection.
I know crafty folks who are big into decorating with duck tape. Check out how cute their selection is at OSH! I’m partial to the Hello Kitty one, but that’s just me. 😉
While at the store, I got to check out their “Workbench” section where get assistance with basic hardware needs such as tool & knife sharpening, rescreening, lock rekeying and pipe, chain, cable or rope cutting (among other services). I had a copy of my home key made & that machine is lightning quick!
With Spring Break coming up, I know some parents will be looking at Pinterest for craft projects to keep their little ones busy. There are so many crafty things that you can make with supplies found at OSH, like this cute message board made with chalkboard paint!
The last piece of info that I wanted to share is the news about their Grand Opening Celebration! It will take place on Saturday, March 21st at 19800 Ventura Blvd. The day will kick off with a fun “board-cutting” ceremony at 7am & include food, entertainment & giveaways. NOTE: the first 100 adults in line will receive a $25 gift card! For the kids, OSH will have a caricaturist & balloon artist creating custom takeaway gifts to celebrate the new store in your neighborhood. You can get additional details on my Facebook page!

Oh, I might have to head that way to visit
It’s worth the drive Monica! 🙂
Awesome to know they are opening a new store in WH!! I had no idea. I’ve always gone to the one they have in Sherman Oaks. Thanks for the tip!
