**9/26/16 EDITOR’S NOTE: I was informed via Yelp & also the Fleurish website that the business is closed.**
During opening weekend at The Village at Westfield Topanga, I walked into Fleurish & met Allyson one of the co-owners. For those who follow me on Periscope, you may have caught my impromptu interview with her. Fortunately I did save it & you can view it on my YouTube channel. (Tip: skip to the 2 minute 30 second mark & you’ll get to the Fleurish part.)
Fleurish is the first fully dedicated design-it-yourself floral bar & also provides a full floral boutique for arrangements & delivery. I can’t wait to take a beginner class with my daughter & get our “flower power” on at Fleurish.
The concept is so neat that I thought it would be a great idea to interview the co-founders. Please meet the latest Real Moms of the SFV, Amy Marella & Allyson Aron!
How/why did you begin your business?
Amy: Not a day goes by that I don’t meet someone who wished they could work at a flower shop or be a floral designer. The beauty and happiness that flowers represent is the very reason I got into the business 16 years ago owning the Hidden Garden and continue to design today.
Allyson: Amy and I previously worked together in the music business. I was the Sr. Director of Media Services of Universal Music Group (where Amy and I originally met!) and decided to join forces with Amy to focus on Fleurish’s branding, marketing and merchandising efforts. Fleurish is an exciting new floral company that brings the wonderful world of flowers to your fingertips…literally.
Amy: We wanted to create a new and fresh concept in the floral industry and we are proud to be doing just that with Fleurish’s fully dedicated design-it-yourself floral studios, “where you are the fleurist.”
As a working mother, what is one tip or piece of advice that you would give to other female entrepreneurs?
Amy & Allyson: Big picture planning and organization is key to maintaining your marriage and family as your first priority. It’s the grounding foundation for “having it all”.
What do you like best about having a business in the San Fernando Valley?
Amy & Allyson: This is our home turf, so the unwavering support and enthusiasm of family and true friends is priceless!
If there was one thing you wish you knew before you began your business, what would that be?
Amy & Allyson: There are so many, but a few key tips would be…
- Don’t assume anything… check, confirm, recheck again!
- It’s ok to say “no” sometimes. No one can do it all, at all times. Especially when starting a new business. If you always say “yes” to everything you are bound to fail.
I agree with Amy & Allyson that organization is key in having a business, but really in all aspects of life! I’m so glad to hear that they appreciate & love having a business in the Valley. I should point out that their first Fleurish shop is located in Brentwood. Isn’t it great that they brought this unique retail experience to the San Fernando Valley?!

Very interesting business concept, making people happy with their own creation using flowers. I really like “it is okay to say no sometimes” statement.
