Looking for a new place to try out Sunday Brunch? Consider Madera Kitchen in Hollywood!
The vibe at Madera Kitchen is really cool. While it was a little too warm for my taste to sit outside on the beautiful patio, I can definitely see myself gathering here in the evening with a group of friends for dinner or for an after work meet-up!
My family opted to sit indoors where it was nice & cool.
As we perused the menu, we happily listened to the DJ spin tunes. I’m not sure if they play music every Sunday or if it is a different type of music played week after week, but it’s a fun experience just the same.
I decided to get Chilaquiles with over easy eggs. Now these chilaquiles are not your average ones that you might get elsewhere.
Madera Kitchen makes their’s with pulled pork, feta cheese, avocado, eggs (cooked your way) & chickpeas. That’s right – chickpeas, as opposed to black or refried beans. I have to say that it gives it a very interesting texture! I would have liked more feta cheese on mine (or maybe even cheddar) but overall I liked my dish.
My daughter got Blueberry Pancakes & we found it to be very berrylicious! I’m a big fan of using orange zest or just orange flavor in general in food, so I enjoyed the orange curd that was drizzled on the pancakes, along with regular syrup (added by my kiddo) & whipped cream fraiche. Of course the star of the pancakes are the berries!
My hubby ordered something from the menu that has a great presentation & unique taste, Madera Kitchen’s Crab Benedict! He loves crab cakes & anything inspired/made of crab, so this was right up his alley. The brunch entrée is a fried soft shell crab (yep – it’s fried!), topped with poached eggs & a spicy Hollandaise sauce. So tasty!
Although we were full from brunch, we couldn’t resist getting dessert! There were two options that day, a Peach Tart or Churro Ice Cream. My daughter loves churros, so it was a no brainer. The churros were nice & warm (positioned to make the dessert almost “sandwich-like”), while the vanilla ice cream was sweet & cold! The caramel drizzle was a nice touch.
Madera Kitchen is located in Hollywood at 1835 Cahuenga Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90028. For my San Fernando Valley friends – I say, make the trek! It’s a fun Sunday outing & since you’re already over the hill, you can go visit The Grove or LACMA or any number of other fun, family place! Parking is available on the street or you can pay to valet park. For more info, check out their website or Facebook page!
So tell me, if you go to Madera Kitchen, which item are you most likely to try?
