Islands Topanga {Foodie Review} + Giveaway!

Posted on February 23, 2017 | Filed Under: Food | Tags: Islands Burgers, Islands Restaurants, Islands Topanga, Woodland Hills Burger Restaurants | 35 Comments

You may be familiar with Islands Restaurants: Fine Burgers & Drinks, which is known (like the name says) for their awesome burgers & fries. What you may not be aware of is that Islands has a variety of food entrees beyond their burgers & fries, as well as thirst-quenching drinks.

Recently I went to Islands for a media tasting with my mom. It’s not often that I get that chance to go out to lunch with my mom on my own, so it was a fun “ladies lunch” for sure!

We started out with appetizers & drinks. Although we had ordered Arnold Palmers, we were also served a Mai Tai in small sampler glasses that were chilled. The Islands Mai Tai is their featured drink of the month at Islands.

My mom received the Fresh Cut Island Fries as her appetizer & I got the Tortilla Soup. It was a cold, rainy day when we visited Islands, so the soup really hit the spot!

My mom ordered the Kaanapali Kobb salad, which comes with grilled chicken breast bacon, chopped hard boiled eggs, avocado & bleu cheese crumbles.

I opted for something a little heartier, which was a chicken sandwich. When I asked the waitress what was the most popular chicken sandwich, she said the CA Flyer Chicken Sandwich. I was so pleased with what I ordered! It’s made with grilled chicken breast, BBQ sauce, pepper jack cheese & thinly cut fried onion strings.

We also shared the Wiqui Waqui (pronounced Wiki Wacky), which happens to be the Islands Topanga restaurant manager’s favorite salad. In fact, when he placed it on our table, he told my mom that although she ordered her Kaanapali Kobb, that he wanted us to try the Wiqui Waqui salad which was equally good, if not better!

The Wiki Wiki salad was delicious from the tasty ranch/BBQ sauce salad dressing to the protein rich, grilled & chilled chicken! It also comes with yummy cheddar cheese, tomatoes, red onions & topped with tortilla strips & scallions.

Although we were stuffed, my mom & I shared a Fudge Brownie ice cream dessert. This dessert is just the right size for one person, but because we were so full, it was perfect for us to share.

Islands has gluten-free items on their menu, as well as tacos, burgers, “beach bowls,” low-cal entrees & an excellent kids menu! For more info, check out the Islands website here.
