Home Again is a romantic comedy set in Los Angeles & stars Reese Witherspoon, Michael Sheen & Candice Bergen.
As the movie opens, you see Alice (Reese Witherspoon) mildly freaking out on her 40th birthday. Newly separated from her music executive husband (Michael Sheen), she has uprooted her two daughters by moving to LA from New York.
While out with friends for a birthday celebration, Alice strikes up a conversation at the bar with Harry (played by Pico Alexander). It’s a classic “meet cute” & soon Harry, along with his budding filmmaker friends – Teddy & Austen, crash at Alice’s place for the night.
We discover that George (Jon Rudnitsky) is a screenwriter & Teddy (Nat Wolff) is an aspiring actor. Alice’s mother (Candice Bergen) takes a shine to the three young men & convinces Alice to let them live temporarily in the guest house, while they figure out their next move.
The group slowly becomes a family of sorts, as George lends a sympathetic ear to Alice’s older daughter Isabel, Teddy & Harry help out around the house, all the while Alice grows closer to Harry.
Things quickly turn upside down when Austen (Michael Sheen) saunters back into Alice’s life in an attempt to patch-up their relationship & spend quality time with their daughters. How do the house guests react? Well, if the trailer below is any indicator…things don’t bode well for the three guys.
“Home Again” stars Reese Witherspoon (“Big Little Lies,” “Wild,” “Walk The Line,” “Sweet Home Alabama”) as Alice Kinney in a modern romantic comedy. Recently separated from her husband, (Michael Sheen), Alice decides to start over by moving back to her hometown of Los Angeles with her two young daughters. During a night out on her 40th birthday, Alice meets three aspiring filmmakers who happen to be in need of a place to live. Alice agrees to let the guys stay in her guest house temporarily, but the arrangement ends up unfolding in unexpected ways. Alice’s unlikely new family and new romance comes to a crashing halt when her ex-husband shows up, suitcase in hand. “Home Again” is a story of love, friendship, and the families we create. And one very big life lesson: Starting over is not for beginners.
Overall the movie is sweet, funny & cute – everything you want in a rom-com! The movie is like a love letter to young filmmakers & to those who are starting over. It’s also a good reminder to pursue your passions, be loyal to your friends & always stay true to yourself.

I love Reese as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde but another awesome film of hers is her very first film. She was just 13 or 14. It’s called the Man in the Moon. Have the Kleenex handy for that one!!
