Day of Giving: Universal Studios Hollywood Gives Back to Community

This morning, hundreds of Universal Studios Hollywood employees volunteered in support of the 14th Annual “Day of Giving.” This community outreach event hosted 300 homeless children from Operation School Bell.

The day started off with the volunteers gathered around to await instructions for their assignment.

Universal Studios Hollywood employees broke off into teams. Then they hopped onto a bus to volunteer at non-profit organizations such as Project Angel Food, Tree People, MEND, Union Rescue Mission, Shane’s Inspiration & many more.

Back at Universal CityWalk, the children affiliated with Operation School Bell received a brand-new backpack, new shoes & books.

The inspirational “Day of Giving” event is a yearly Universal Studios Hollywood tradition.

Organizers posed near shoes that were being donated.

After the kids received their school supplies, they had the opportunity to visit “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter,” a chance encounter with Minions to experience the popular “Despicable Me Minion Mayhem” ride & play in the “Super Silly Fun Land” play zone.

Seeing these children receive these gifts just warmed my heart. I can’t imagine the hardship & difficulties they must endure. To have a new pair of shoes so that they can run & play, new children’s books to read & the experience of a lifetime at a theme park – it was such a touching thing to witness.

Disclosure: No monetary compensation was received for this post. I attended a media event which enabled me to share this experience. All images & opinions are 100% my own.
