Have you ever wanted to get up close to an ostrich or emu? Well at Ostrich Land you can get within arm’s length of them as you feed these big birds!
Ostrich Land is located just outside Solvang, which is about 45 minutes north of Santa Barbara. At this unique place, you and your family can enjoy the experience of viewing over a hundred ostriches and emus.
Our socially distant visit took place on a Summer Friday. We pulled into the parking lot and noticed that it wasn’t crowded; however, it was early morning for a weekday visit.
At Ostrich Land, signs are visibly posted that encourage visitors to keep a social distance of 6 feet. We felt safe since everything is outdoors and visitors are required to wear a mask.
After we paid our entrance fees, we each bought a bowl of feed so that we could feed the animals. I made my husband go first since I wasn’t sure how the ostriches were going to be.
My daughter went next but decided she wanted to feed the emus instead. They seemed more gentle because they didn’t hit the bowl so hard like the ostriches.
I tried my hand at it as well and it was quite an adventure. I can now check this once in a lifetime moment off my bucket list! 🙂
If you ever find yourself in the area, I highly recommend stopping here for a visit.
