With life being so uncertain lately, I’ve found myself drawn to products or apps that bring zen or serenity into my home. Earlier this year, I wrote about attending a sound bath session at a health & wellness conference in early March. It was very relaxing to listen to the sounds, be in the moment, and focus our collective energies in a guided meditation. Recently I discovered The Spa Girl Life, which produces a line of luxury candles and crystals.
The candle sets found on The Spa Girl Life website have peaceful names like Glow from Within, Moonlight Reflections, and Sunrise on the Mountain. The soy candles come in a variety of scents and each candle is packaged with two small crystals – one for each hand, should you choose to mediate with them. Also included in the set is a notecard with a mantra printed on it, as well as a description of the crystal.
I chose Hawaiian Sunset because my family is from Hawaii and the scent of the candle really resonated with me. The soothing scents of orange blossom, lavender, jasmine, rose, and musk remind me of Kauai & Oahu, where my parents were born. I also picked this candle because lavender aromatherapy has been shown to reduce stress and increase relaxation. Two Amethyst crystals came with my candle. Amethyst is known for its healing properties, but I really like it for the pretty shade of purple.
During these challenging times, wouldn’t you want to channel some tranquility and bring good energy into your life? These candle and crystal sets make an excellent gift for your BFF or even for yourself. It’s like a mini first-aid kit for the soul!
I’m so intrigued by The Spa Girl Life product line and I wanted to learn more about how it got started. The other day I had the opportunity to interview the CEO and founder, Nicole Black. Here is what she had to say…
How/why did you begin your business?
Nicole: The Spa Girl Life was born out of my connection to finding self-love. My greatest strength has always been to show others what their greatest strengths are. Through mindfulness and meditation, we can all achieve a level of self-love unlike any other.
What is one tip or piece of advice that you would give to other female entrepreneurs?
Nicole: Ladies, as female entrepreneurs we need to constantly raise one another up. If you see an idea that you think is a good one, tell her she’s doing a great job. If you want help building something for yourself, ask her how she did it.
What do you like best about having a business based in Southern California?
Nicole: The best part of having a Southern California based business is the location! It’s easy to ship to all parts of the US quickly.
If there was one thing you wish you knew before you began your business, what would that be?
Nicole: One thing I want all women who are starting a new business to know is that it’s going to be hard and take more work than you think it will. You are going to make some mistakes along the way, in fact I hope you make a lot of them, because that is where we really learn and grow. The truth is, it will be worth it and you will be successful. It takes time so be patient with the process but mostly remember to be patient with yourself. Most “overnight” success stories take about twenty years to come to fruition. Believe in yourself, your product and most importantly believe in your dream. The more you are rooted in your why, the more successful you will become.

I haven’t tried any of these, but I can really use them right now! I don’t know which scent I would try first.
