Hu’s tagline is “Get Back to Human” which is very apropos since their mission is to put the health, welfare and happiness of humans above all else. At Hu, they focus on foods that are organic, with little or no added sugars and are dairy-free. Imagine that, eating a keto-friendly cookie or a vegan chocolate bar. It’s possible and better yet, they taste delicious!
Recently I was sent samples of Hu Dark Chocolate Gems, Grain-Free Cookies and Dark Chocolate Bars. I was excited to try these because in my mind, if I’m going to snack on something or have a sweet treat, then I’d like it to be a food item that is “better for you” as opposed to junk food with empty calories.
Dark Chocolate Bars
These aren’t your mama’s chocolate bars! Hu’s chocolate bars are organic and made with 70% cacao. I sampled the Hazelnut Butter and Almond Butter bars which are made without any palm oils, refined or cane sugar and no sugar alcohols. There are also dairy-free and gluten-free. These chocolate bars are great for those who live a vegan or paleo diet.
Grain-Free Cookies
Hu makes grain-free cookies that are keto-friendly. I have friends and family members who have gluten issues (intolerance or allergies), so these cookies are perfect since they are gluten-free!
We were given samples of chocolate chip, ginger snap, peanut butter and snickerdoodle cookies. My husband and I enjoyed munching on these cookies. Take note that the cookies are made with coconut oil and cashew flour. My daughter is allergic to tree nuts, as well as peanuts, so she was unable to sample them.
Dark Chocolate Gems
Just like their chocolate bars, Hu makes a dark chocolate snack called “Gems” that is organic and vegan. These gems are made for snacking or baking. The chocolate melts easily and can be incorporated into any recipe. I personally know someone who likes to toss a few gems into their mouth as a snack. I’m looking forward to making hot cocoa bombs with these gems, but more on that at a later date!
I’m so glad to discover Hu’s product line. I had never heard of them prior to receiving these samples, but the more I talked about it, the more that I had discovered that these have been around and several friends of mine have eaten them.
