My daughter and I live an active lifestyle. She is involved in cross country and track & field with her school, and I like to attend fitness classes 2-3 times a week. So when it comes to cleansing your face on the go, we want a cleansing product that is portable and easy-to-use. Enter the bette green Cleanser Stick!
The bette green Cleanser Stick is formulated to match the skin’s natural pH to protect it from acne causing bacteria. The product gently cleans the dirt and buildup from the day without stripping the skin of its natural protective oils. Plus it has a rose and citrus scent!
What I love about this Cleanser Stick from bette green is that it is small enough to throw inside of your gym bag or purse! The fact that it’s a stick as opposed to a liquid cleanser means that there’s no chance of spills and it makes cleaning your face a breeze inside of a locker room or bathroom at a fitness studio.
My product sample came with a bette green Cleanser Stick, green headband (to keep your hair out of your face when you wash it), instruction card and little carrying bag).
Now I’ve mentioned on my blog that my daughter has food allergies, which means that she also has sensitive skin. What I also love about the bette green Cleanser Stick is that it is a naturally clean skincare product, which means that it was formulated without the 1,300+ banned, potentially toxic ingredients including parabens, phthalates, sulfates, mineral oil, petroleum -based ingredients, phenoxyethanol, and formaldehyde.
It is also vegan and free of any synthetic fragrances, meaning the cleansing stick is scented from natural essential oils and aromatics. It is also 100% free of animal products or animal-derived ingredients.
Recently, I had the opportunity to interview Sarah, the founder and owner of bette green.
Here is what Sarah had to say…
How/why did you begin your business?
Sarah: When my daughter was a baby there were so many amazing bath & body options but as she started to grow up, I noticed a real lack in quality skincare options for her. Everything was either too babyish or to be honest, kinda junky. I set out to create an everyday essential that’s safe, natural, efficacious and above all else, it’s easy to use and feels good. I’m really proud to say bette green achieves just that, naturally clean, fuss-free skincare, helping moms introduce routines & strengthen connections with their kids.
As a working mother, what is one tip or piece of advice that you would give to other female entrepreneurs?
Sarah: I’m a strong believer in less is more. Less activities & engagements, less toys, just less stuff in general. Clearing out the stuff on all levels give me more time and energy to focus on what really matters – time with my husband, my children, my friends, and most importantly – time for me!
What do you like best about having a business that promotes health and beauty, particular one that focuses on youth/teens?
Sarah: I think health & beauty are important on a lot of levels. On the surface, our kids sweat, oftentimes wear sunblock and unfortunately, are exposed daily to a variety of air pollutants. Water alone cannot remove all that grime and buildup from the day. They need a simple cleanser that will gently clean their skin. And it’s always best to get into a routine before there is an actual problem (hello, zits & pimples) to address. On a deeper level, something as simple as skincare can be turned into a bonding moment with our kids. Talking about hygiene and beauty with our girls (& boys) opens the door for bigger topics about body and self-image. I love that bette green focuses on the shared experiences between mothers & daughters rather than our differences.
If there was one thing you wish you knew before you began your business, what would that be?
Sarah: I wish I had known that even though creating a great & innovative product is hard, but getting the product (that took a couple of years of research and partnering with the right lab) in front of people is even harder!
