Meet Kari, Co-Founder of Valley Salt Cave

Posted on July 18, 2023 | Filed Under: Real Moms of the SFV | Tags: dry salt therapy, himalayan salt, Kari Shulman, Valley Salt Cave | Leave a Comment

Last month, I visited Valley Salt Cave for a mini salt session. I felt at peace as I sat there in the zero-gravity chair, under a cozy blanket. I let my mind wander as I listened to the meditation recording and took in the dry salt therapy, as the gentle trickling of saltwater cascaded in the background.

Did you know that salt caves and/or salt rooms have been known to help improve breathing, fight infection, decrease inflammation and reduce stress? I had heard about salt rooms from a friend who suffered from allergies. What I like about this service in Woodland Hills is that it is a salt cave! They have a few salt caves too – a large room (where they are known to have sound baths and yoga events), a private room and a salt cave exclusively for children.

Please meet the latest Real Mom of the SFV – Kari, co-founder of Valley Salt Cave!

How/why did you begin your business?

Kari: We started our Salt Cave here in Los Angeles after experiencing the benefits of halotherapy in New York, where we had opened a salt cave with my sister-in-law. I suffer from two autoimmune diseases, as well as asthma and allergies, and I wanted to explore more holistic ways of dealing with these issues.

As a working mother, what is one tip or piece of advice that you would give to other female entrepreneurs?

Kari: Make sure you carve out time to reset and recharge your own batteries.

What do you like best about having a business in the San Fernando Valley?

Kari: The sense of community that the Valley has. People really love supporting the local businesses in the community.

If there was one thing you wish you knew before you began your business, what would that be?

Kari: I think if I had known how all-encompassing it is to start a business, I might have been scared off. I have really enjoyed the wild ride of starting a new business with my husband, my life/work partner. It has pushed me to expand and grow.
