Migration Will Have You Quacking Up! {Movie Review}

Posted on December 21, 2023 | Filed Under: Pop Culture | Tags: Elizabeth Banks, Illumination, Kumail Nanjiani, Migration movie, Universal Pictures | Leave a Comment

Recently my family was invited to see an early screening of “Migration” an animated movie made by Illumination, the creators behind the Minions, Despicable Me, Sing and The Secret Life of Pets comedies.

In the film, you meet the Mallards, a family of ducks who live in a New England pond. Mack Mallard the dad (voiced by Kumail Nanjiani), mom Pam (Elizabeth Banks), teen son Dax (Caspar Jennings) and little Gwen (Tresi Gazal) go on an adventure of a lifetime! The movie also features the voice talent of Awkwafina, Keegan-Michael Key, Carol Kane and Danny DeVito.

The Mallard family is in a bit of rut. While dad Mack is content to keep his family safe paddling around their New England pond forever, mom Pam is eager to shake things up and show their kids—teen son Dax and duckling daughter Gwen—the whole wide world. After a migrating duck family alights on their pond with thrilling tales of far-flung places, Pam persuades Mack to embark on a family trip, via New York City, to tropical Jamaica.

We had a great time at the screening – getting to meet Gwen Mallard and sampling all of the sweet treats. Thanks, Universal Pictures for hosting us!

Migration is a cute movie about family and how sometimes you must take risks and step outside of your comfort zone to enjoy life. It’s the perfect movie to watch during the holiday season, especially since the kiddos are out on winter break. Action and humor abound that will have you quacking up!

Disclosure: No monetary compensation was received for this post. I attended an advanced screening of the movie which helped facilitate this review. Images shown in this post are used with permission. As always, my opinions are 100% my own.
