Have you heard of the scalp treatments that are offered at head spas? I’ve seen viral videos on social media and have been wanting to try it for some time now. However, since I live in the San Fernando Valley, I wanted to find a local head spa that I could try out and perhaps visit on a regular basis. Royal Head Spa in Woodland Hills is close to where I live, and it checks all of the boxes in what I wanted in a scalp treatment.
When I first arrived at the head spa, Elizabeth walked me through the process and showed me what my scalp looked like before the treatment. Then she explained a little bit about the shampoo and conditioner that she was going to use.
Royal Head Spa uses premium shampoos and conditioners that are specifically formulated to give you that deep scalp treatment. Head spas are common in certain Asian countries and both men and women take part in this relaxing wellness ritual. While using scalp shampoos and getting a scalp massage isn’t a new thing, the technology used (the hair/scalp monitor!) and the shampoo bed with the halo waterfall is new for salon customers in the United States.
Asian women and men go to head spas on a regular basis for self-care and to treat inflammation, promote blood flow to the hair follicles, product buildup, and improve their hair health. After years of dying my hair, getting blow outs, and using various hair products, I could tell that my scalp needed a detox. Elizabeth, the owner of the head spa confirmed my suspicions that I had an oily scalp, and that it was inflamed. She used a shampoo and conditioner from Leaf & Flower that has CBD in it, which treats inflammation. The scent smelled lovely!
To get an idea of what the process is like, check out the video below provided by @royalheadspa. This is not me, but the treatment is like what I had done.
Overall, the entire experience was wonderful! I felt so relaxed during the Squeaky Clean Head Spa treatment, which came with a neck and shoulder massage, plus a facial cleansing. My scalp never felt so clean!
I plan on bringing my daughter here when she is home from college. She’s been wanting to try this treatment too! Another plus about this head spa is that they have several different packages to choose from at varying price points. You don’t have to break the bank to get a much-needed scalp detox!
Royal Head Spa is a woman-owned and operated business. In fact, Elizabeth has another salon that is just a few steps away from the spa (inside of the same complex) After my head spa, shoulder massage and facial treatment, I walked over to Royal Cuts to get my hair blown out. Thanks, Elizabeth for inviting me to try out the scalp services!
The spa is located inside the Body Spa Salons plaza.
