Calling all Lion King fans, Mufasa: The Lion King arrives in theaters today!

The film is a prequel to the 2019 film, The Lion King and similar to that movie, the animation style for Mufasa is photorealistic.

Exploring the unlikely rise of the beloved king of the Pride Lands, “Mufasa: The Lion King” enlists Rafiki to relay the legend of Mufasa to young lion cub Kiara, daughter of Simba and Nala, with Timon and Pumbaa lending their signature schtick. Told in flashbacks, the story introduces Mufasa as an orphaned cub, lost and alone until he meets a sympathetic lion named Taka—the heir to a royal bloodline. The chance meeting sets in motion an expansive journey of an extraordinary group of misfits searching for their destiny—their bonds will be tested as they work together to evade a threatening and deadly foe.

Starring the voice talents of Aaron Pierre (“Genius”), Kelvin Harrison Jr. (“Elvis”), Tiffany Boone (“The Chi”), Mads Mikkelsen (“Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny”), Thandiwe Newton (“Westworld”), Lennie James (“The Walking Dead”), Anika Noni Rose (“Drreamgirls”), Keith David (“The Princess and the Frog”), and more!

I’m so excited to see this. I’ve always wondered why Scar was so terrible. I can’t wait to see everyone’s backstory!

I’ve always been fascinated with the relationship between Mufasa and Scar. He just seemed so genuinely surprised when Scar murdered him. I’d love to see how that all evolved.
