“Sense and Sensibility” opens in theaters on October 16. The film is based on the iconic Jane Austen novel.
One would think that it would be hard to top the 1995 “Sense and Sensibility” version, but this new iteration from director Georgia Oakley offers a fresh new take.
Last Saturday, I attended FocusFest, which is a one-day event celebrating Focus Features’ films. A highlight of the festival was the “Sense and Sensibility” Q&A with Daisy Edgar-Jones and Esmé Creed-Miles, moderated by Justin Sylvester. Listen to Edgar-Jones talk about how nature played a role in the film.

The film revolves around the two elder sisters and their marriage prospects.
From Focus Features and Working Title comes an irresistible new take on Jane Austen’s iconic Sense and Sensibility: a charming, witty, and deeply relatable story of love and sisterhood starring Daisy Edgar-Jones and Esmé Creed-Miles.
The film features a strong supporting cast, including Caitríona Balfe (Outlander), George MacKay (1917), Tom Brooke (Slow Horses) and Fiona Shaw (Killing Eve, Harry Potter franchise).
Speaking of Fiona Shaw, her portrayal of Mrs. Jennings had me laughing so hard! Her lively performance nearly stole every scene that she was in.
Jane Austen is a perennial favorite among book lovers, so it’s no wonder her film adaptations are popular. When asked about the impact of Jane Austen in films, this is what Edgar-Jones had to say.

I thoroughly enjoyed “Sense and Sensibility.” In fact, I loved it so much that I screened it twice! Check out the photos from the FocusFest screening and last night’s viewing in Century City, where the crowd laughed, cheered, and gasped with delight.

I really want to see this and have plans to see it with my daughter when she is free. That is if it is still on at the cinema
This is such a great adaptation. We’ve seen it and we loved it so much. The cast did an amazing job, especially Daisy.
