So tonight is the big MTV Video Music Awards! This award show has always been known for its outrageous performances & stunts. Remember back in the day when Brit Brit & Madge locked lips? How about when Ms. Diana Ross "complimented" Lil' Kim's purple dress? These are watercooler moments people! By the way, do offices even have watercoolers anymore? Why can't we update this phrase to something more up-to-date like "Keurig gathering moments" … [Read more...]

CD Review + Giveaway: Unrepentant Geraldines by Tori Amos

Posted on August 19, 2014 | Filed Under: Books, Pop Culture | Tags: CD giveaway, Tori Amos, Unrepentant Geraldines | 6 Comments

I’ve been a fan of Tori Amos since her Little Earthquakes days, back when I was in college & listening to KROQ radio station 24/7. The song Silent All These Years has such a great melody & those haunting lyrics…just beautiful! Fast forward 20-something years later & people are still listening to Tori’s music. Tori’s latest album Unrepentant Geraldines is vintage Tori, her lilting voice accompanied by that great piano music. I … [Read more...]

On a beautiful Saturday evening, I attended a California Philharmonic concert at Santa Anita Park. This is an awesome venue that is located in Arcadia. Picture the beautiful San Gabriel mountains on one side, the Santa Anita Race Track on the other & tables filled with happy families with picnic baskets. This area is surrounded by a green lawn & the musicians from California Philharmonic are on the stage in front of you. Doesn’t that … [Read more...]

Earlier this month I attended my very first Anime Expo. This was my very first conference in the anime industry. It’s funny that when I worked in the toy industry many moons ago, I had several opportunities to go to Comic-Con. Back then the focus was more on comic books & the toy industry that surrounded those characters. Comic-Con has now evolved into more of a pop culture festival. Sure you still have comic book fans that head down to San … [Read more...]

First Impressions on the Emmy 2014 Nominations

People often joke in LA that we have four seasons, which are Summer, Fall, Fire & Award seasons. Personally I love the entertainment award season, especially the "big" ones like the Emmys, Golden Globes & of course, the Oscars. I often tell my friends & family that the Oscars are my Super Bowl. I really get into the predictions of who will win by participating in "friendly wagers" with friends, where the winner gets treated to lunch. … [Read more...]
