I’ve been a fan of Tori Amos since her Little Earthquakes days, back when I was in college & listening to KROQ radio station 24/7. The song Silent All These Years has such a great melody & those haunting lyrics…just beautiful! Fast forward 20-something years later & people are still listening to Tori’s music.
Tori’s latest album Unrepentant Geraldines is vintage Tori, her lilting voice accompanied by that great piano music. I recently had the opportunity to listen to her entire album & it does not disappoint. Although a lot of the music I listen to when I work out tends to be Hip Hop or R&B, there are times when I just want to zen out. A perfect time for me to find my bliss is during car drives. For example, I had the entire Unrepentant Geraldines CD on repeat last week when I had to drive the 405 Freeway from the Valley to Brentwood!
My favorite songs on the CD include: Troubles Lament, Wedding Day & Promise. Speaking of the song Promise, during a recent CBS News interview (which I watched one Sunday morning), Tori explained how her daughter Tash became a part of the vocal arrangement. The song talks about the complicated relationship that mothers & daughters may have (something that I am all too familiar with). Take a listen (and a look!) at the Promise video…

My favorite song has got to be Winter. That was the one that made me fall in love with Tori 16 years ago

Tori helped my angst-ridden post college days go by much more smoothly. That transition from student to “real adult life” was not a seamless one. 🙁 I’m excited you’re doing so well with your blog! I look forward to reading more. Now, if only I lived in the LA area…
