Scarium of the Pacific – Trick or Treat at the Aquarium

Posted on October 5, 2015 | Filed Under: Local Events | Tags: Aquarium of the Pacific, Long Beach Trick or Treating, Scarium of the Pacific | 17 Comments

Halloween is around the corner & for parents, that means two things – oh geez, what costume am I going to make/buy my child and where do we go for trick or treating? I barely passed my Home Economics class (do they even have Home Ec or is it called “Life Skills” class?), so I can’t sew my daughter’s costume. So off to the pop-up Halloween costume store I go! As for trick or treating, usually we walk around our neighborhood. In years past, … [Read more...]

Posted on August 24, 2015 | Filed Under: Local Events, Social Good | Tags: Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Purina ONE, spcaLA | 2 Comments

By now you probably have heard about the overcrowding situation in dog shelters. My daughter has been begging for us to get her a dog & I know that when we are ready to commit to one, we will look at pet adoption centers in the LA area. Earlier this month, my daughter & I attended an event at Santa Monica Place that was hosted by spcaLA & Purina ONE. There were about a half dozen dogs on-hand from spcaLA who were hanging out in … [Read more...]

Last month we celebrated our Valentine's Day morning together as a family at a fun gathering at The Awesome Playground, where we noshed on food provided by Mix n' Munch of Pasadena & met with the folks from Bricks 4 Kidz. The Awesome Playground is an indoor playground located on York Blvd in the Eagle Rock/Highland Park area of LA. Once you step inside, you’ll see the huge play area with toys, separate play rooms & seating/couches for … [Read more...]

We all know that right now Girl Scout Cookie season is in full effect! I've seen photos on social media regarding the Girl Scouts #onemorebite campaign. The idea is to upload a selfie on Instagram of you with a Girl Scout Cookie, tag it #onemorebite & then you will be entered into a giveaway in which the grand prize is 52 boxes of your fave Girl Scout Cookie! Wow, that's a lot of Thin Mints (for me)! Speaking of photographs, did you know … [Read more...]

There has been so much talk in the last year or so among educators about getting kids excited & involved in STEM (science, technology, engineering & mathematics). I recently found out about a fun, free Winter Camp that is hosted by the Microsoft Store at Westfield Topanga in Canoga Park. During these tutorial sessions, your child can learn how to create, code, design & develop on Microsoft computers. Spread over two days, these … [Read more...]

Roaring Nights at the LA Zoo!

Posted on August 7, 2014 | Filed Under: Local Events | Tags: LA food trucks, Los Angeles Zoo, Roaring Nights | 9 Comments

On July 25th, I attended a fun event for adults at the Los Angeles Zoo. The event is called Roaring Nights & as I had mentioned, this is strictly for the 18 years & older crowd. As much as I enjoy taking my daughter to the LA Zoo during the day, there is something to be said for going there at night without the little ones in tow. Sometimes mama needs a night out with friends, am I right?! I met my friend at the entrance of the LA … [Read more...]
