Penne Pasta with Uncle Steve’s Arrabiata Sauce

Posted on November 11, 2014 | Filed Under: Food | Tags: penne pasta with ground beef recipe, Steve Schirripa, Uncle Steve’s pasta sauces | 7 Comments

I know quite a few moms that have at least one “go to” pasta dish that they can cook at a moment’s notice. I personally love penne pasta & so does my family. One of our favorite dishes (and it is easy-to-make too!) is penne pasta with ground beef. Usually I just pick up whatever sauce that’s available at my local grocery store but this time I wanted to make it with one of Uncle Steve’s™ organic pasta sauces.

Steve Schirripa (best known for his role of Bobby Baccalieri on The Sopranos) developed a line of pasta sauces that include: marinara sauce, tomato basil sauce & arrabiata sauce. All three of Uncle Steve’s™ pasta sauces are made with organic tomatoes from Italy. These pasta sauces are also gluten-free, kosher certified, dairy & soy-free.  Just the other week, my family enjoyed ravioli with Uncle Steve’s™ Marinara Sauce. However, this week I wanted to make my “go to” penne pasta dish.

Penne Pasta with Ground Beef

Prep time: 15 minutes

Cook time: 45 minutes

Serves: 4

Ingredients
2 cups penne pasta
1 jar of Uncle Steve’s™ Arrabiata Sauce
1 pound ground beef
2 cups grated Mozzarella Cheese

Directions
Preheat oven at 350 degrees.
Grease or use non-stick cooking spray on a 13×9 casserole dish. Then set aside.
Boil pasta according to packaging directions so that it is al dente.
While the pasta is cooking, brown the ground beef in a pan until it is thoroughly cooked.
In a large bowl, place pasta, Uncle Steve’s™ Arrabiata Sauce & ground beef. Mix well.

Place half of the pasta & beef mixture in the casserole dish.
Top with 1 cup of grated mozzarella cheese.
Then add another layer of the pasta mixture on top & sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese.

Bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees. Then enjoy!

Please note that Uncle Steve’s™ Arrabiata Sauce is spicy, which is what arrabiata sauce is known for. In fact, “arrabbiata” literally means “angry” in Italian & the name of the sauce is due to the heat of the peppers. Check out the fresh, organic ingredients that are in Uncle Steve’s Arrabiata Sauce!

Now our family happens to enjoy spicy dishes. However if you like your penne pasta on the mild side, then use this substitution: swap out Uncle Steve’s™ Arrabiata Sauce for Uncle Steve’s™ Marinara Sauce, add 1 tsp Italian Seasoning, plus salt & pepper to taste.

Check out their website for more information on where you can buy Uncle Steve’s™ pasta sauces. Also, remember to follow them on Twitter & Facebook to get their latest updates!

Disclosure: No monetary compensation was received for this post. I received complimentary Uncle Steve’s™ pasta sauces which helped facilitate this review. All images & opinions are 100% my own.
