When I go jogging at my local park or participate in 5k races, I like to keep my hands free. Sure, I might run with hand wrapped around my cell phone but that’s because I listen to my tunes or occasionally take pictures during runDisney races. However it sure is nice to be able to stash my car keys, a few bucks in cash, a driver’s license or credit card in a waist pack. Call it what you want – fanny pack, jogging belt or waist pack, they all pretty much do the same thing which is keep personal items stored on your body so that you can keep your hands free.
So when I heard about the Hip Appeal, I was very keen on trying it out, especially because it comes in different colors & sizes! The colors range from your basic black, pink, blue, purple & even neon colors! There are a lot of colors to choose from or you could even customize it with a special logo. The sizes range from XS to XL.
I chose the plush blue color in a size small. Now I have a jogging belt that you can hook around your waist. The difference with the Hip Appeal is that it is one continuous wrap or loop, meaning that you don’t hook it around your waist. Imagine an infinity scarf were you just drape it around your neck, rather than taking one end & wrapping it around. Well with the Hip Appeal, I had to step into it & then pull it up over my outfit, get it past my hips, then arrange it around my waist & eventually pulling it down over onto my hips.
Here it is wrapped around my waist (illustrated with some pocket money) before I pulled it down over my hips & adjusted it into place. The fact that you have to pull it up, smooth out your clothes & then arrange it back over your hips will take a little time, whereas I am used to just belting my other running waist pack into place.
That may seem like not a big deal, but I am also used to finishing a jog or 5k race & being able to simply unhook that belt as soon as I am done. When I am sweaty from a running, all I want to do is get comfy & rid myself of things that are constricting me – wrist or arm band that holds my iPod or phone that plays my tunes, throw off my running visor & get that jogging belt off of me! That’s just a personal preference though. However with the Hip Wrap, you’ll have to shimmy the belt off of your hip/waist, over your clothes & shoes. Again, maybe it’s not a big deal for some, but it is worth pointing out.
Some great features about the Hip Wrap are the multiple zip pockets. You can easily stash your keys or drivers license here in the rear zip pocket.
On the front of the Hip Appeal, you have a zippered pocket that can hold your credit card, money, or small phone. There is a front seam pocket that can hold your phone vertical so that you can reach for it with ease or you can plug in your earbuds & play music.
The Hip Appeal does a pretty good job of staying in place while you jog. The wrap is tight enough to stay secure around your hips, but picking the right size is key.
Overall the Hip Appeal is stylish & sporty enough for casual walks around the neighborhood & running around town while doing errands. You can also use it while jogging or running in 5k races. For more information, check out the Hip Appeal website!

Nice to see a fanny pack. I never understood why people made fun of them. I like them.
