This past weekend I visited The Village at Westfield Topanga which is a brand new outdoor mall in Woodland Hills. It was a perfect morning, started out at my favorite fitness studio in Tarzana, grabbed a skinny latte & then drove about 10 minutes to get to the multi-level parking structure of The Village. Since I arrived around 9am, I was able to park on the first floor & tour around the outdoor mall before the crowds arrived at 10am. Although none of the restaurants are open (most are slated to open in October), there was plenty to see & do at The Village! So much so that I have to break this recap into two blog post!
This first recap will focus on home decor shops that are currently open at The Village. I’ll also share with you pics of the art installations & cute seating areas that are peppered all throughout the outdoor mall.
Since Costco was the very first retail store that I saw after walking out of the parking structure AND it does contain home furnishings & decor, I am including it in my recap. I won’t go into detail with what they have to offer because frankly if you’ve seen one Costco, you’ve seen them all. I will admit though that from the outside, this is the fanciest looking Costco I’ve seen! I mean, the one closest to my house just looks like a big ole box.
Next up is Fleurish, which is the first design-it-yourself flower studio. Fleurish’s first flower studio location is in Brentwood, In my opinion, this is the prettiest floral shop that I have ever seen in my life! Fleurish offers floral design classes, in-studio private parties, a petite fleurist party for kids & even a Winter Break floral design workshop for kids! I can’t wait to take a class here with my daughter.
At this store, the flowers may be the highlight, but check out this beautiful chair located inside Fleurish! So dramatic & cool! I don’t think it is for sale but I can imagine a few people who would want to buy it!
On my way to visiting the Jonathan Adler store, I stopped in front of the “Lucky Climber” where your lucky kids can run around & be active while mom gets her shopping on. There are benches where hubby-boyfriend-partner or older sibling can hang out & watch the kids.
Nearby the “Lucky Climber” is an art installation piece that lets you sit on a swing & chill. In my case, I caught up on emails & took a selfie – lol!
Another fun seating are is the “Birthday Table” where you can host a special event. I believe you rent it out, but I’m not exactly quite sure about the specifics. All I know is that it is cute & festive! When I popped on over to the table, they had handouts that you could color.
Finally I reached the Jonathan Adler store!
According to Tyler, Jonathan Adler store associate, this Woodland Hills location is the largest Jonathan Adler store (in terms of square footage) AND it also has the most merchandise of all Jonathan Adler stores. Tyler also revealed that there are quite a few exclusive pieces for Woodland Hills. Yay for the Valley!
One example are these rose colored side tables which are named “Ultra.” These side tables come in varying heights. The Ultra mirror and table lamps shown in the top right photo are part of the collection as well.
To me, Jonathan Adler’s store is very modern & sophisticated. I like the couch & coffee table shown below. The dining room table & chairs in the bottom photos look very sleek & glam.
If you are looking for home decor that is more vintage Americana, slightly antique or what I like to think of as “beachy California” then just walk a few doors down to the Nathan Turner Shop.
I have to admit that Nathan Turner’s kitchy or rustic vibe is more in tune with my personal taste. I had the pleasure of getting to meet Nathan Turner AND his dog Nacho (who has his own Instagram account by the way – take that Giggy Vanderpump!). As I gushed over his store & talked to him about his former Bravo TV show Million Dollar Decorators, his dog Nacho came up to greet him.
I asked Nathan about his thoughts of having a pop-up store just a few doors down from Jonathan Adler’s store. He actually likes the idea of grouping stores together by category at The Village. For those that are looking for more glam, they will go over to Jonathan’s store but maybe they’re shopping for a gift & want something more rustic which you will find at his store. (Nathan also revealed that he is friends with Jonathan.) Basically he thinks that there is room for both & that people will want to stop by both stores.
The Nathan Turner retail store is considered a pop-up shop, since Nathan will only be at The Village through December 31, 2015. So you know what that means, you better stop on by!
There is another furniture store in the mall which you may be familiar with. Z Gallerie is a chain store & if I remember correctly there used to be one a looong time ago inside the Topanga Mall (maybe before it was remodeled?). Anyhoo, it is located on the second floor, near the parking garage.
As you can see from my recap, there are many options for home decor shopping, regardless of your budget. Where else can you go shopping at Costco for furniture to high-end pieces at Jonathan Adler?! It’s only at The Village at Westfield Topanga & that’s a good thing for us Valley people!!
Disclosure: There really is none. I attended the grand opening of The Village which was open to the public. All images & opinions are 100% my own. Style is subjective! 🙂
This area sounds so cool! I can’t wait to visit. I love the integration of places to have fun and sit.

Yes, definitely check it out. Maybe wait a few weeks until the rest of the restaurant stores are open? However there is a super cute ice cream shop called Sloan’s that is SO fun! You should take your daughter there. It’s decorated so cute & they have toys & little tchotchkes for sale.
So many awesome stuff in here. Love to visit decor shops so I can finally redo my interior soon!
