Recently my mom & I did some Christmas shopping at a mall in Thousand Oaks. All of that walking in the mall & looking for gifts made us hungry! So we decided to stop into our local Stacked Restaurant which is conveniently located within The Oaks Mall. I had heard that the seasonal signature dessert for the month of December was going to be their holiday bread pudding. So I made it a special point to go with my mom so that we could share it!
After looking at their menu, I decided that I would eat a healthy lunch so that I could save room for their holiday sweet treats. I ended up choosing the Wrangler Salad. Usually this salad is topped with crispy fried chicken tenders. However since Stacked is built on the premise that you can build your own food, I opted to get blackened chicken breast instead. I love being able to customize my meals at Stacked, so I also added a few extra veggies like grape tomatoes, cucumber & artichoke hearts. Aren’t the crispy red tortilla strips so festive with the green avocado? Not only is it colorful but it was yummy to boot!
My mom decided to get the Cow in the Garden Salad. This comes with flat iron steak (which she requested well done) & an assortment of veggies & a balsamic vinaigrette dressing. She let me take a few bites of her salad & let me tell you, it was good!
After our salads, it was time to create our holiday bread pudding. The base of the bread pudding is challah bread which is made in-house & contains raisins, toasted walnuts & cinnamon. There are 18 topping options to choose from so that you can create your own personal version of this classic dessert. Imagine going to Stacked with a group of friends & everyone creating their own bread pudding. I bet no two puddings would be the same!
My mom & I decided to build our bread pudding with vanilla ice cream, strawberries, fresh cut bananas & top it with whipped cream & chocolate chips. Mmmm mmmm good!
Our waitress convinced us to also order the Ginger Snap Cookie Butter Shake, which is available only for a limited time. Honestly she had me at Cookie Butter!! This shake had bits of ginger cookies mixed in with the ice cream & cookie butter. It was sinfully delicious & if you are a fan of Cookie Butter, then you will really love this shake.
If you find yourself near a Stacked Restaurant, then run (don’t walk) to a table & make sure you order the holiday bread pudding and/or the Ginger Snap Cookie Butter Shake! Remember it is only available during the month of December, so you still have time. I know for my friends in the Valley or Ventura County, you might want to stop by Stacked after you holiday shop at The Oaks Mall like I did. I know for me, shopping really works up an appetite! 🙂
