Cake Monkey Bakery in Westlake Village

Posted on October 1, 2018 | Filed Under: Food | Tags: black & white cakewich, Cake Monkey Bakery, Triple Berry Mini Layer Cake, Westlake Village bakery | Leave a Comment

Cake Monkey Bakery is a popular LA bakery known for their individually sized layer cakes & yummy snack treats. I’ve tasted their desserts & they are delicious. However, making the trek out to their Beverly Blvd location is a little hard. Fortunately, Cake Monkey Bakery opened a second location in Westlake Village.

*Please note this location is now closed. Cake Monkey Bakery’s Los Angeles store on Beverly Blvd. is still open.*

Recently I visited the bakery with my family where I got to meet Elizabeth, the head pastry chef. She gathered some treats for us to share.

While my daughter & husband noshed on the sweet treats, I got to chat with Elizabeth for a bit. I found out that the most popular item at either bakery (Westlake Village or LA) is the Black & White Cakewich followed by the Triple Berry Mini Layer Cake.

My husband really liked eating this cakewich a lot!

The Triple Berry Cake is a vanilla cake with housemade strawberry jam, raspberry jam & blueberry jam. It’s frosted with vanilla buttercream & those little crumbs you see on top is a raspberry crumble.

One thing to note is that Cake Monkey Bakery does special order cakes. So any of their cakes can be made larger for a wedding or birthday party!

I really like the Triple Berry Cake & my daughter’s fave is the Confetti Cake.

Due to popular demand, Cake Monkey Bakery started offering gluten-free sweet treats about two years ago. Elizabeth found a company, Authentic Foods, who makes really good gluten-free flour. This enabled Elizabeth to modify her recipes of Cake Monkey’s popular desserts so that customers can buy gluten-free versions.

A key difference between this Cake Monkey Bakery location & the one in LA is the size. The Westlake Village location has inside seating & patio dining. Over the course of the next month, Cake Monkey Bakery will offer breakfast & lunch items to their menu. I’m looking forward to returning so that I can try out their Chocolate Hazelnut Babka French Toast!

The bakery serves Forge coffee, a locally sourced, single origin coffee which pairs nicely with their breakfast pastries.

There is a lot of sweetness in the bakery but my personal favorite is the Chorizo Cheddar Croissant.

One thing I know for sure is that now that it is officially Fall, I will have to order one of Cake Monkey Bakery’s pies. I mean, this is pecan pie perfection!

From where I live in the Valley, it’s just 25 minutes to Cake Monkey Bakery Westlake Village. Since I’m in Conejo Valley several times a month, I look forward to visiting again!
