Ralph Breaks the Internet (or Wreck-It Ralph 2 as some people are calling it) opens in theaters this week. With families gathered for the Thanksgiving holiday, this animated film is bound to be a sure-fire hit!
I recently watched an early screening of Ralph Breaks the Internet & I was very pleased with the sequel.
Ralph & Vanellope have a sweet, although slightly codependent, relationship.
“Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2” leaves Litwak’s video arcade behind, venturing into the uncharted, expansive and thrilling world of the internet—which may or may not survive Ralph’s wrecking. Video game bad guy Ralph (voice of John C. Reilly) and fellow misfit Vanellope von Schweetz (voice of Sarah Silverman) must risk it all by traveling to the world wide web in search of a replacement part to save Vanellope’s video game, Sugar Rush. In way over their heads, Ralph and Vanellope rely on the citizens of the internet—the netizens—to help navigate their way, including a webite entrepreneur named Yesss (voice of Taraji P. Henson), who is the head algorithm and the heart and soul of trend-making site “BuzzzTube.” Directed by Rich Moore (“Zootopia,” “Wreck-It Ralph”) and Phil Johnston (co-writer “Wreck-It Ralph,” “Cedar Rapids,” co-writer “Zootopia,”), and produced by Clark Spencer (“Zootopia,” “Wreck-It Ralph,” “Bolt”), “Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-Ralph 2” hits theaters on Nov. 21, 2018.
Of the new characters, I really liked Yesss a lot. Snarky & wise, she has just the right amount of sass to make her a standout in my eyes. I also like her perspective on how fickle social media can be – a point that is firmly made in one scene when Ralph stumbles into a back room to read comments on a social media post about him.
An unexpected friendship emerges between Vanellope & Shank, along with Shank’s posse.
During the movie, there are a few key scenes with Disney Princesses that had me laughing SO hard! The audience was cracking up too & there were a couple of zingers that I missed, which just gives me an excuse to watch it a second time.
The movie is very funny & if you do watch it, make sure to stay through the credits to see two post-credit scenes.
