Have you ever felt like you need something or someone to help kick your fitness routine up a notch? As much as I love taking group fitness classes, I know that I would greatly benefit by having a personal trainer. That’s why I was super excited when Katie Seigel offered me a personal training session at WRK Fitness Studio in Sherman Oaks!
Why is that? First of all, with a personal trainer, he or she can customize the routine & ensure that you are using the proper technique. Secondly (and maybe I’m just projecting here), you can’t “cheat.” What I mean by that is when you take group fitness classes, sometimes you don’t always give 110% during the class. It’s very easy to just go through the motions. I knew that personal training with Katie would keep me honest. 😉
Katie is very personable & I really enjoy her teaching style. I was first introduced to her at Sandbox Fitness where she is a group fitness instructor. Her Sandworks class is no joke! She watches you during the bootcamp-type class to make sure you are using the correct technique & says encouraging words to keep you motivated.
As a personal trainer, Katie creates fun & dynamic workouts for her clients at WRK Fitness Studio. Although maybe “fun” isn’t the right word, there is one thing I know for sure, you will never be bored. She changes things up & never repeats the same workout move twice in one session. She will have you work on the same set of muscles but instead of doing the same repetitve move for 3 sets, she’ll switch things up. I really appreciate that because it kept me constantly engaged since I never knew what she was going to throw at me! 🙂
When I first got to the studio, Katie had me do some cardio to warm-up. I was on the treadmill for about 5-10 minutes.
Katie had me doing lunges & squats with weights. I also used the kettle bell for another exercise. Each set was timed & I believe her method was high-intensity interval training (HIIT).
Here’s a video of one of Katie’s client’s working out. Pistol squats are challenging but Katie has her client using a leg band which kicks this workout up a notch!
In addition to being a personal trainer, Katie is also a private chef. Just take a look at this yummy spread that she made for one of her client’s!
Katie will also advise her clients on how to eat healthy & will help them create food plans. Exercise is important but if losing weight or maintaining a healthy weight is your goal, then what you eat (and how much of eat) is even more important.
