Family Fun in Marina del Rey at ARTsea!

Looking for something fun to do this weekend? ARTsea, a free outdoor event, takes place Saturday, May 18 & Sunday, May 19 in Marina del Rey. This fun, family-friendly event is open to the public & will be located at Marina “Mother’s” Beach.

There will be lots of things that parents can enjoy with their kids at ARTsea. From interactive art workshops, kid-friendly bands, dance performances (Bollywood step group & Filipino folk-arts group) & last, but not least, you can play in the calm waters of Marina “Mother’s” Beach.

Speaking of the water, one of the art installations on the beach will feature about twenty or more 10’ sea creatures that will glow on both evenings! How cool is that?!

There will be plenty of food trucks, plus a beer & wine garden.

The lineup for music concerts is amazing including Jazzy Ash & The Leaping Lizards, a jazz band for kids!

ARTsea Highlights Include:

Hands-on art workshops & interactive activities
-‘Can the Trash’ Clean Beach Poster Contest: Elementary school students can enter to have their artwork seen by millions of beachgoers as part of DBH’s educational campaign
-Makers Mess: Make a farmer’s market-themed block print or craft a nautical-inspired flower crown
-Craft Camper: Learn how to weave or make a beach-themed wind chime with the Craft Camper!

Large-scale art installations & site-specific pieces from local artists
-Colorful banners & wind-garden by San Diego artist Jose Sainz
-Sea Creatures by LA-based art collective Aphidoidea

A marketplace with local artisan-made craft items
-JDN73: Screen printed clothing designed by native LA artist Jorge Nunez
-Eclectic Hoops: Hand-crafted dance hoops on the beach
-Teru Ai Ceramics: Artisan hand-glazed ceramics
-Plus many more!

Food, food & more food!
-More than a dozen food trucks including Blast Ice Cream, The Grilled Cheese Truck, Comet BBQ & Cousins Maine Lobster
-Beer & Wine Garden hosted by Cafe del Rey
-BYO water bottle: Fill-up at free purified water stations provided by FloWater.
-Enjoy a sit-down meal at one of the Marina’s many waterfront restaurants, just steps away from ARTsea

Dance & Play
-ARTsea will have a plethora of music from all-day musical entertainment from a Grateful Dead cover band to jazz, hip-hop, and more!
-Relax & chill at picnic tables set-up with games.
-Want to try your hand at YOGAqua or stand-up paddleboarding? Special rates available for ARTsea attendees.
-Get your selfie on at the Snap Yourself beach party photo booth. Photos are free.
