Last weekend my daughter & I ventured out to West Hollywood to attend the Gelato Festival held at the Pacific Design Center.
This two-day festival featured local & visiting gelato makers, who created a special one-time flavor just for this event. Attendees got to sample all-you-can-eat gelato that was made fresh on-site all day long.
Where was the gelato made? In the world’s largest mobile frozen dessert laboratory! It was fun to peek into the windows & watch artisanal gelato being made.
Each booth at the festival featured a different flavor. My daughter & I had fun getting our program book stamped as we went around sampling the gelato.
She really liked the Strawberry Herbal Sorbet that contained strawberry, lemon & mint. It was light & refreshing!
I enjoyed the Mangonada Gelato that was made with chamoy sauce and tajin spices. It was tasty!
Every attendee got to vote on their favorite flavor. Although the Orange Chocolate Gelato wasn’t eligible for the contest, I have to say this was my favorite flavor at the festival. It was so decadent!
Also on-hand at the festival was an exhibition tent where they held a gelato lecture so that you could learn fun facts about this yummy Italian treat.
This fun & tasty event not only highlighted the different types & flavors of gelato, but it also gave back to a local LA charity. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales went to Gelato Festival’s charity partner – Project Angel Food.
If you missed the Gelato Festival, don’t worry as they have just opened their first permanent flagship store at 8906 Melrose Ave. in West Hollywood. For more information, visit the website here & don’t forget to check out their Facebook page for the latest updates!
Thanks Gelato Festival for the invite. It was such a sweet way to spend my Sunday!
